OK so who wants to guess why this is still the Titan X and not a new name?

I'm still trying to get my head around nearly HALF A TERABYTE per second (480GB/S) memory bandwidth (on a consumer card)..

That's nearly 2 petabytes per hour..

Another question for the list... For the neural network crowd the problem with consumer pascal is the hobbled fp16 and for the financial guys the equally crippled fp64. Has nvidia improved either with the titan-x pascal or is this really just a bigger 1080?

Wait for the 2k titan - X black which should unlock more of the GP100-esque perf. The original Titan had 1/3 DP perf not this 1/32 nonsense. Oh well, it's targeted at wealthy gamers who see compute and think more FPS so that's probably a m00t point.

In so many ways it is a shame how NVidia fractures the market segments in an attempt to milk the maximum cash from the chips.

I often wonder if this strategy ends up reducing their net at the end of the day while leaving silly buggers like me unable to buy the card I actually want. It feels like they are outthinking themselves in this strategy.

I dunno man, they have no competition really. The gtx 1060 trades blows with the amd 480 if not being faster than the 480. The 1070 is faster than the fury-x, and the 1080 is faster yet. This titan-x will be faster (it better be) than the 1080 and then what happens when the 1080ti is released? AMD has a lot of work to do and I hope they do it so that we get some pricing competition like we had back in the day.

I haven't played a video game in about 15 years. What I'd like is the ability to use uncrippled fp16 or fp64 in my basement dungeon without having to pay $4k and maintaining an annual service contract. For me the new consumer video cards will be fine for video conferencing but they are a sad waste for kaggle contests, machine learning play and data mining for the hobbyiest.
