For some time now new tech just doesn't get me excited, yeah new CPU's are great and all, Optane drives are sweet, RAM... blaaa … but this new 2080 Ti gets me pumped up :)

Just received this today from Newegg.

Are they insane?

Already expecting another mining caused GPU shortage and decided to jack the prices up early?

New pricing lets NVidia manage their bloated inventory and make a cash grab with another rise in the pricing structure.
They are merciless. I hate them and I should buy their stock.

The prices are just ridiculous. Combine that with a performance that does not seem to be so much better than Pascal apart from the raytracing gimmick which might not take off for years. I am tempted to quote Linus Torvalds here

I was talking to a few folks about this at Hot Chips. My big concern is that if you start adding the compute capability of all portions, there are too many specific IP blocks that can sit idle.

That is always the knock on chips with accelerators. I had the chance to sit with the VP/ GM of Xavier yesterday and chatted a bit about that problem. I will likely write that up Wednesday.

At-least there's 2 blower-versions I spotted on amazon's pre-order page, sadly neither I could pre-order :(

Awaiting the benchmarks, but fairly underwhelmed for the price.

GPU performance has been increasing so quickly for so long perhaps this is the end of that track.

The speculation that the higher price is to allow the existing 10x0 stock to clear the market seems plausible to me.

Does anyone know the Rendering performance for Video rendering?

We have many colorist who use two 1080Ti's for Video colorist software rendering.
