none ecc memory on x9scm

I just got some ordinary ddr3 udimm none ecc and I get the classical 6 beeps . I thought none ECC memory was supported.

Do I really need to get ecc memory?

There's not any memory on the SM tested memory list that's not ECC by the looks of it

What size modules are using, 8GB is the largest that board supports

ECC memory is required with that motherboard. You will need ECC unbuffered, not registered memory, which is unfortunately far less common and carries a price premium.
