I bought 8 about 2 years ago. I swapped them all for 12TBs a few weeks ago when a second one of these failed SMART (I had previously replaced 1 about a year ago). Since I pulled them I don't have the latest SMART test results for them but I can find a way to do that for an interested buyer. I'd like to sell them in a single deal. $30 + shipping or local meetup is fine. I hate the idea of them going in a landfill if someone can use them so feel free to make an offer.

The cost to package them isn't worth the effort. I rather get Staples Rewards points for a lot less effort. I don't need the money, or the hassle of a complaint if they die or are damaged in transit.

As I had mentioned, I had no problem sending my own UPS label for these so any shipping issues would have been my issue. I actually picked up another rack unit in anticipation for these drives. And as I also mentioned, I could have even sent my own drive shipping box so that it would have been even easier for you--just drop them in the box and tape it up and slap my label on it. I really could have used these drives, even if one did have an issue. Right now I'm using some old 450GB 15k drives that were discarded and you can hear them clunking around and the data transfer speeds aren't right, but they did the job for testing. Your drives would have finally allowed me to reliabily put this box in service and and also a twin of it for redundancy.

My take on this kind of thing is, they are the sellers items, and can be disposed of whenever and however they see fit. But, if they go to the trouble of creating a "for sale" listing somewhere and a buyer pops up offering to buy said item at the listed/ wanted price, there's something of a moral duty to see it through, if not a legal one. I understand that folks can change their mind, especially with a pricing mistake, but the time to do that is before any offer is made where things can be corrected. Nobody wins in such a situation, reputations are damaged and suspicions are raised, which only makes everyone else all that more cautious. I highly recommend anyone selling stuff here to follow through on your sales :)

This is my take as well, except it extends to the fact that they can do this at any time for any reason--including changing their mind. It's not the first time it's happened to me, and certainly won't be the last. And ime, generally these type of things are less of an issue with transparent communication where both parties know where the other is coming from so it's a 'win-win'. I've never been the type of buyer that thinks that the only good deal is one where one party wins and the other loses--that just leaves one person upset.

It's nice that the OP posted here why they didn't want to sell the items anymore, but I would liked to have an opportunity to make it as painless as possible for the OP, even at some cost to me. I know every time I've tried to find 6x drives like this in the same condition, it's still around $4/TB at best, which made the value of OPs items $144 for me, and it would have been nothing for me to have thrown $70 in packaging and shipping to have these drives for $100 my cost.
