@Sing You can always wait couple of weeks and sell on EBay. Or even to one of your friends or work colleagues (no EBay fees).
$200 for a slightly used Intel top tier 800GB SSD (with 10 DWPD :D) is really good price.
Hey, you could sell it for bit more (and make $50-$100) for yourself. Just see how much they are selling on EBay for.

You could delete your account. I thought about it too. But I have no friends, apart from the fantastic, helpful and knowledgeable people on this forum. Heck I learnt so much here. Who knows? One day I might build my own server and use some of this stuff!!! :)

@Sing I use the links here to support STH. There's a thread on it somewhere in the archives. Since it doesn't really cost me much and I appreciate finding deals here I like supporting the site. I think if you use those kinds of sites some big corporation makes a commission for what you saw here.

But you can do whatever with your $.

I got a request to cancel the order in eBay and accepted the cancellation. But after 48H still no refund, paid with CC.
Does it take longer? Or should i file a case?

Did they actually charge you or do you just have an auth pending against the card (usually shows as a pending transaction on your card)? If it's the latter, you haven't been charged yet and the auth will fall off after 3-5 business days.

Just put one of the drives into the Intel Warranty check site:

Since these were sold as refurbs, will Intel honor the warranty? Is there a precedent of them doing so?
I'm thinking it's Newegg that is providing the guarantee, if so. Since they're stating:

"This means the product was tested and repaired as required to meet the standards of the refurbisher, which may or may not be the original manufacturer. Any exceptions to the condition of the item outside the manufacturer’s information should be provided in the listing, up to and including warranty details."

Sounds like that went out the window, however you can buy their "protection plan" for $20 a pop extra :p

At $250 these are a good deal but less attractive than the $180 Samsung 960GB. You aren't going to use the write endurance of these drives unless your application writes non-stop. Having more capacity is better for most people.

At $200 the Samsung is prob still better but I'd be tempted to get a S3700.

Got my 2 that were $250 from eBay. Same stats (or similar) to Patricks. Wishing I had grabbed 3 more while they were at $200. Geeze that was an awesome deal!

Yeah I have used both of those drives and if your workload isn't write-heavy, the Samsung has more bursty performance. However, if you're using them with heavy writes, the Intel will be better. My current favorite drive is the S3700 but I was eyeing the S3710 too. Got 15 of the 400gb S3700 models right now and wishing that were 800gb models considering the previous $50 price difference! Another thing is the issue with Samsung's lack of trim support under Linux if that matters to you. Did they ever fix that?
