I am currently in the process of building a new workstation using Dual 2696 v4 on the SuperMicro X10DAX motherboard. My current PSU is a BeQuiet 1200W model from 2012 that has been on 24/7.

The old system is an i7-3970x so the PSU has never been heavily taxed. Should I get a new PSU or just reuse what I have?

I haven't seen it a in while, but the best psu bargain would probably be the Lenovo D30 1120W gold PSU that used to be available last year for $40 or slightly less. They are now back up to $90-100 so not quite as much a bargain anymore. But they are great psu for the money with two EPS connectors. They are beefy and high quality like you would expect... good thing I was able to get one back then
