When trying to install omnios on a new build it forces me to log into maintenance mode. I've installed it fine on similar (older) systems. At a glance, is there anything here that is incompatible? Or is there another reason why I can't proceed?

  • ASRock Rack Motherboard E3C236D2I
    • 6 SATA3 by C236
    • Intel i210*1+Intel i219*1
  • Xeon Processor E3 1220 v5
  • Crucial 32GB Kit (16GBx2) DDR4
Thanks in advance!

Current OmniOS does not support USB3 (soon, nearly ready).
I got a similar error when installing from an USB3 port.

There are even some newer boards that use newer chipsets
that gave me problems with USB2 ports. Booting the installer iso from an Sata DVD helped then.

I was indeed using the usb 3.0 ports so I moved keyboard and the external usb dvd drive over to the two usb 2.0 ports.
Unfortunately I still get the same error..
Remounting root read/write
Probing for device nodes
Preparing image for use
Requesting system maintenance mode
I don't have anything else plugged in besides drive that it will be installed on and the vga cable.

I have seen a similar behaviour on a SuperMicro X11 board where I needed
to boot from Sata with a bios setting "keyboard compatible to Windows 7".

Other option is
create a bootdisk on another system or clone my napp-it to Go image to an SSD via clonezilla.

So I connected a old sata dvd drive from a spare desktop... AND IT WORKED!
Thanks Gea! I appreciate your help!
