I'm curious what kind of switch chip it uses? If it's the same RTL9303 as all the cheap switches available from China, the price is definitely way too high. Not that there is anything wrong with the RTL9303, but it clearly isn't as expensive as QNAP wants to imply that it is, if that is indeed what they use.

Sure, the quality of the manufacturing is likely slightly higher, but even accounting for that I imagine that their margins must be pretty high.

oh right lol thats even worse then yeah RTL9303 for sure then
Yeah. Switch vendors still want to sell 10 Gbps switches as if the switch chips are still expensive. Unless a well known brand decides to release one with a more aggressive price that force down the prices, this will likely continue to be the case for a few more years. :(

Oh well, my new L3 managed Hasivo F1100WP-4SX-4XGT (4 * 10GBASE-T + 4 * SFP+) is working well so far, while also being significantly cheaper. :)

These products all use the SDK provided by Realtek. Manufacturers only need to customize the webui with their own brand info.

In this case they seem to have done more UI customization than what we usually see from the Chinese brands. It's not just a slight rebranding, it's a more custom UI similar to their other switches that I've seen before. Basically, it looks more polished, but I'm not sure if they added any additional functionality.

Still, I would prefer if they priced their hardware closer to their actual cost, not based on 10 Gbps being "premium".
