I think I want... many of these.

Actually, I want to see pricing on the QSFP+ model. If it is competitive, I can see replacing the current 1GbE management switches with these in our racks. There would be a benefit of going directly from 1GbE to QSFP+ since I could then get rid of my SFP+ layer and standardize on QSFP+ for 10/40GbE and QSFP28 for 25/50/100GbE.

These look really interesting.

The little 4 and 8 port SFP+ switches are clear indication of 10Gbe "mainstreaming". I love it, though pricing will be interesting. If its as aggressive as Mikrotik usually is then they could be game changers.

I think they missed it on the 40Gbe. Coming into the game late, right at the inflection point when the rest of the industry is moving hard towards 25/50/100 as the "sweet spot" for networking. In a very real sense 4Gbe is already a dead technology.

The CRS312-4C+8XG looks really exciting. This is the switch I want (assuming favorable pricing, of course). This could be 10Gbase-T finally coming of age (had hoped the Ubiquiti XG-16 was that switch - but their 10Gbase-T didn't work and was a debacle).

@PigLover I totally agree except to me, 40GbE, or specifically SFP+ break out, is still useful. 10GbE is the new 1GbE.

With that all said, there is a Dell Z9100-ON 32x 100GbE switch going in the lab tomorrow.

Oh, I agree. 40Gbe is useful when you can get it cheap. My comment was more about the potential market Mikrotik is playing into. Going forward it is quite limited.

As for that Dell switch: its cool. I know some places that have quite a few of them running. You'll like it. Do you plan to run Dell's NOS on it or test it as an open platform? Might be a good one to try out AT&T's recently open-sourced DaNOS (aka, Vyatta reborn).

@PigLover I was going to use the Dell NOS but since it will mostly be on the test net I may try Cumulus and others as well.

@Rohit Kumar
The first switches we wanted to touch on are the CRS354 series. These switches have 48x 1GbE ports but also 4x SFP+ and 2x QSFP+ ports. The SFP+ ports are for 1GbE and the QSFP+ ports are for 40GbE.

I assume that should be 10GBE ?;)

And too bad they don't have a 100GBE switch;)

Any word on availability? The CRS312-4C+8XG looks interesting and is probably quieter and less power hungry than my Cisco SG500XG-8F8T that I want to replace.

My sense it that it will take awhile. MikroTik often teases a product. Then there is some lag in manufacturing and distribution.

The missing thing from prior switches is decent L3 or vLAN routing performance, if that’s fixed then some great looking switches they have there.

@Deslok managed to figure out how to order one this morning. Hoping it will be here by next week.

Isn't the little CRS305-1G-4S+IN fairly old news?
STH reviewed it back in October and you can get it on Amazon for $135

How is the CRS309-1G-8S+PC different to the currently available CRS309-1G-8S+IN?

This thread is from the original 2018 announcement of many of those products and seemed an appropirate place to comment on the CRS354(48 ports finally!) being available.

PC in mikrotik terms likely refered to "passive cooling"(which I think the 309 is anyway but without an active variant they may have dropped that from the name) the IN I'm not 100% sure about but usually indicates desktop products where as rackmount gear is RM
