Need SB7700 VPD

Hey,

I've got an SB7700 engineering sample here, which I just can't get to work.

The VPD of the switch chip is complete nonsense, with everything being FF and one exception for the Base GUID which is 1234...

Does anyone have a working SB7700 and could send me the contents of the VPD EEPROM? That would be amazing!

Background:
I believe that the VPD contains the I2C address to which the Switch chip listens.
OS is booting fine, but get stuck at initializing modules and there are some I²C related error messages in the kernel log, which makes me believe that the Switch Chip is listening to the wrong I²C address and thus the OS gets stuck

I have just built an isolation adapter (only TXD, RXD and GND - so really the bare minimum)... Sadly, no luck

So yeah, guess I'm still searching for a SB7700 EEPROM Dump^^

Hi, I have an SB7700 and would like to help. However, I am not familiar with the location of the VPD EEPROM, please provide guidance.
I have a flash/eeprom programmer that can read the chip directly.

Can I ask you some questions?
I am new to mellanox switch. I has a SN2410 and SB7700.

I have backed up the msata SSD according to your post（https://forums.servethehome.com/index.php?threads/mellanox-switches-tips-tricks.39394/）, by using the dd command.

But I am confused about how to backup the ASIC/BIOS firmware.
And what else do I need to backup? Just in case

Hi @sean233333, I have an SB7700 with the EEPROM wiped, and I think I could use your help.

After some investigation with another SB7800 that I have, I've come up with a way to extract the eeprom content to a bin file. Even though it's not a SB7700, I think they're fairly similar and the commands should work.
You should ssh or login in the SB7700 and execute these commands:

enable
config term
fae
mellagra _read_fru 8 0x51 1000 file.bin

Now, from another computer, you should extract the file from the switch, with scp admin@<switch-mgmt-ip>:/var/home/root/file.bin ., and that's basically it! The content of that file is the exact same content that can be viewed from onie with onie-syseeprom.
I would be really grateful if you could post, or send it via PM, the result of hexdump -C file.bin. Beware that the serial number appears two times in that hexdump, if you don't want to publicly post it.

I am looking for a VPD dump from a SN2700 in order to fix the same issue I have. Does anyone have this bin file which I can possibly try to use and fix a SN2700? Thanks in advance.

how to get VPD ? I have SN2700 too.
