With password protected sharing off, Windows 11 Pro still blocks guest access to SMB shares by default, so the connection needs an account that exists on the server. You can enter the server's Microsoft account email as the user name with that account's password (the password, not the Windows Hello PIN). I'd recommend a dedicated local account on the server for the share so it keeps working if the Microsoft account password changes. On the server go to Settings > Accounts > Other users > Add account, choose "I don't have this person's sign-in information" then "Add a user without a Microsoft account", and give that user Change under Advanced Sharing > Permissions and Modify on the folder's Security tab. Then on the gaming PC open Map network drive in File Explorer, enter \\SERVERNAME\ShareName, check "Connect using different credentials", and sign in as SERVERNAME\shareuser.

The local account route is the way to go. If you want to avoid seeing it on the login screen etc. you can hide it with a registry tweak. :)

A Microsoft account usually fails over SMB when that account signs in to the server with only a PIN or Windows Hello, because the share checks the account's password. Is the share opening now with the local account?
