Try this. I probably got it from the same seller as you did. The username and password listed below are in the manual somewhere.

username is root and password is ChgMeNOW

I just open a terminal and copy/paste

ssh -o KexAlgorithms=diffie-hellman-group1-sha1 -o Ciphers=aes256-cbc root@192.168.0.2

and enter the above password when asked.
Woah, thank you! Indeed, that was the password.

I had to put the unit into 1588v2 mode before it would work if I put it into an SFP port on a switch, but the results are... impressive:

$ chronyc sources
MS Name/IP address Stratum Poll Reach LastRx Last sample
===============================================================================
#* PHC0 0 2 377 2 +7ns[ +11ns] +/- 1677ns

do note that with that particular measurement, it is comparing the system clock to the physical hardware clock of the NIC itself. if you're using linuxptp, there is a different measurement that compares the NIC PHC to the PTP source.

Well I finally pulled my NIC out to remove the module, the SMA jack definitely seemed loose, so I opened it up, and sure enough, it had broken loose. I'm pretty sure there's enough left of the pads to fix it, but not today. I am rather surprised it ever worked at all.

Speaking of which, nexox; this happened to me too :hmm:. How did you manage to open up the module without total carnage?

It's been a while and I think I posted the method in this thread somewhere, but it starts with gently prying up the ends of the spring finger skirt thing that presses against the inside of the SFP slot, once that's out of the way there a couple screws to remove. I did get the SMA jack soldered back on well enough to make it work, but it's real fragile now.

Ouch, though at least that looks easier to fix than mine, if you're decent with a soldering iron.
This gave me a great excuse to buy a new tiny soldering iron. 80% of the antenna pad had lifted, but the remaining caught solder just fine.

The only problem I have now is that its PTP timing is so stable that my leontp and my timepi CM4 just sit there doing nothing. Only wish my OSA5401 had a NTP license, but I wasn't able to convince Adtran to even give me pricing for the license.

I have been fighting to try to open mine, and it has proven to be extremely stubborn. Could I perhaps please ask for a photo with some arrows on where you opened/pushed/pulled to get it to open? :)

How far have you made it? Did you get the metal skirt off to remove the screws under it?

The skirt wraps all the way around as a single piece then where it meets each end has a small tab that fits into the housing to secure it, use a small (about 2mm) flat head screwdriver to gently release those tabs from the housing, then carefully bend the skirt open enough to slide it down and off the small end of the module.

Mine is currently installed and running otherwise I would get a picture or two for you.

after you remove the two screws under the skirt, you need to pull the wire guard as if you were pulling the module out of a SFP slot ; but pull only 90% of the way. Then you get just enough clearance to open the module.
