You can't set the A-XMP to 3200MHz ? That is... set it to 2.Status:
Alive. Installing Ubuntu. Figure I may as well get some numbers off of it.
Had to swap to the Supermicro AOC-SLG3-2E4 for the NVMe SSDs.
Memory is clocked at 2133 with no XMP profiles showing... grrr.
Yean my normal DDR4 kits I use everything, servers etc do not workAttempted DDR4-2400T 32GB RDIMMs this morning. POST code EE. Oh well.
Also dodgy ecc ram support? that's a no no....Attempted DDR4-2400T 32GB RDIMMs this morning. POST code EE. Oh well.
it's possible that amd is only targeting the enthusiast with x399 for now. But if this is a true attempt to take the WS market from intel, then it's only a partial solution. 128GB sounds like a lot of ram for most enthusiasts and probably be ok for some pro. but the lack of ability to go beyond 128GB as well as better ram support is going to limit x399 ability to grab a lot of WS market share. That is unless amd is saving those "pro" features for a higher priced MB marketed toward pros. I guess I can't blame them for doing that completely but I was really hoping that they would start a real price war and put real pressure on intel to significantly decreased xeon price. But it seems like it s possible that amd will halfway join in with intel in a duopoly and will probably market a higher priced MB with those features?@wildpig1234 I guess I am confused what the issue is with RAM Capacity and module size is...
Even my ASUS X99-E-10G WS motherboard only supports up to 128GB and largest DIMM is 16GB.
Its not doggy ECC RAM support either, even with Intel platforms they reserve ECC support to Workstation boards. We have not seen any WS boards yet for Threadripper.
All X399 TR boards out now are enthusiast platforms with no need for ECC or even 128GB RAM limit really.
Personally I wouldn't put a single penny into the v3 Platform.that is why I am not feeling as bad to go with dual 2686 v3 right now in an asus z10pe d16 ws MB
(had a good deal on that MB for 350$).
on ebay the non ecc 16GB ram modules seem to be even more expensive than ecc ones. crazy!!
