So if I read this correctly you have 11TB+160GB in a single machine and no spinning platters correct. Are you using Windows Storage Spaces and combining them together?
Well a bit more than that actually. And if the 160GB is RAM it is only 64GB but 256GB is now sitting next to me ready for the next Windows Update.

I have rebuilt my old workstation, mainly to get free Win 10 but I plan on switching over to it.
This time it has my retired E5-2699 V3's in it.
Case is one I reviewed sometime ago, ASUS TS700-E8-RS8.

IMO we need a DIY build thread

The motherboard in that ASUS case is a Z10PE-D16 WS, one of my most favorite dual socket boards, the case is nothing special. It came as a barebones system with board installed, its a super huge pain to remove it :(

We really need some new updated dual socket boards.

It is hard to believe this build is now around 19 months old!

A few updates that happened today:
  • Swapped the GTX 970 for a GTX 1070. Still using the ASUS STRIX but I feel like I should have gotten a less expensive/ smaller card this time around.
  • I also noticed that there is a Samsung 950 EVO not listed above that is now in the workstation. Usually there are a few other cards that are in/ out such as P3600 1.6TB drives.

To install the ASUS STRIX 1070 cards I had to move the SATA cables as they were about 0.5" too short. That cause the Intel RAID to need to "verify" the RAID 1 array. The system threw me for a loop as during this verification process it booted to a different SSD with an old image I had loaded.
