So I recently got a 1.65 TB fusion io ssd which was fantastic except for the fact it runs hotter than my cpu at 63C. After a day of looking for usb and pcie fan I thought about mounting a fan directly onto my ssd which was near impossible. Then I realized I can glue a sff pc fan to a mounting bracket and plug the fan into a 3 pin. And that’s exactly what I did. Except I don’t have any strong glue, so I drilled holes into the fan and screwed the fan into my bracket. Now my ssd is at 43C when idle and runs less than 60C most of the time.
drawbacks:
-occupies a pcie slot
-the fan didn’t work when I populated 3 of my pcie slots, so I removed everything except for my wifi card and ssd. Probably power constraints.
-fan noise
