I see there are bunch of listings on ebay for the 16GB ECC Registered SODIMM modules (SORDIMM).
After doing some searching I wasn't able to find even one motherboard which would accept such module.
Does anybody know any product which would work with it?

Regards

I look forward to finding more boards that work with this :) $160 for 64gb is hard to pass up!!!

It seems the same case as with the motherboard above:
- in DIMM sizes section only 2,4 and 8GB are listed.
- on the schematics of the board it says "Always populate DIMMx2 first, UNB ECC DDR3 SODIMM REQURED"
UNB = Unbuffered
I tried to lookup the memory from the tested memory section - all of the items specified in there seem to be Unbuffered.
I'm pretty sure you are right that it should be some weird beast with embedded CPU, just want to find one :)

I saw those while searching yesterday. I do admit, if they were cheap I may end up getting some.

The reviews on amazon make them appear hit or miss as far as working or not... they are so simple you'd think they could charge $10 and use better components...

If anyone finds a "higher end" one I'd give it a shot :)

You have to remember those pcb extensions add extra length for the electrical signals to travel on. This can cause sync issues or interference. I wouldn't bother on a production system, too much integrity at compromise.

Good point, I had not thought of that.

In the specs/manual it says:
Two (2) SO-DIMM slots support up to 16 GB of DDR3/L, unbuffered, 1600/1333 MHz, ECC SO-DIMM memory
DIMM Sizes 8GB, 4GB, 2GB

It doesn't support 16GB single Registered SO-DIMM.
you are correct, I just look the manual and say unbuff ...

looking further on 2012 press release, they make SORDIMM for embedded system: RAID card, Network appliance and others...

Ok, after 6 years, can anyone know if something except supermicro A1SRI series has support for this unique useless modules? I have 3 of them and I can't find only dead or expensive (200 usd+) supermicros. And yes, chinese DIMM adapters are not working, I tried.
