A bunch of s8033 hit ebay lately, I can get it at 300$ new, putting aside if they are actually brand new or not, this board comes with many quirks.

- requires proprietary add-on boards for basic operation like the front io board with power buttons, a gpu riser with a proprietary connector on the motherboard, separate vga cable etc.
- tyan website is gone, all i could find was the manual, I couldn't find the bios

I found the front io board from a different seller, but not the gpu riser, and the lack of bios access is a problem. I do like the layout though, 4x u2 connectors on the front, one ocp nic 3.0, 2x crps psu connectors on the back.

I guess my question is, if its feasible to pursue this route?

I'm currently using ROMED8U-2T bundled with a 7532 and 8*32GB 2400, I need to double my ram amount and doing it via 32gb sticks is much cheaper even taking into account a new board price.

please advice

Tyan is now under the MiTAC name.

It looks like this link has the latest BIOS. They have it listed under the server model name instead of the motherboard.

hey thanks for that link, I used the search function, but it didnt return anything, didnt think to use the download center search instead

I've seen the review, which is mainly why I registered at sth
