Aug 28 ,
24 hours mined 0.38 XMR at $135 current price = $51 per day.

< Rosy forecast >
Income before PGE bill , $51 x 30 days = $1530

We are having a week of 100 degree hot weather, actual bill may be $1,300 to $1,400
Guess-estimate $900 electricity bill related to XMR mining.

Income after PGE bill , $600

Thank goodness , stock market is near all-time high.
Otherwise, I won't be able to afford this expensive hobby.

My highest bill so far was a little less than $300.00 total for my whole house and a/c running along with the computers 24/7.

SF bayarea is very HCOL area ( High Cost of Living ).

Rent is out of control. Out side of SF city, 900 sq feet Single Family house rent for $2,700 to $3,000 a month.
Within SF city, 900 sq feet apartment rent goes over $3,500 a month. A house goes for $5,000 a month.

Few miles north Patrick's city. 400 sq studio rent goes for $2,500 or more.

Bayarea is insanely HCOL, my parent / family immigrated to US 1966 when I was 11. We spent 1 year in Houston, 1 year in NY city, then we moved crossed country to SF in 1968 ever since.

My parent brought a house for $20K ( few thousand dollar down payment ) . Sold it for close to a million few years ago as retirement fund.

Yea I am hoping that people drop out. The BTC price has been going up a ton lately. XMR has been going in reverse.

The worst time is still ahead: when Ether will go to hybrid POS (about 3 million GPUs mine it).

10 months earlier , minexmr.com was at 3-5 MH/sec.
Today is at 63 MH/sec, lately, I am thinking switching to a different pool.

@Klee

Which pool do you mine with aeon?

I have had the best payouts with AEON Mining Pool but this morning they raised the mining fee and asked people to mine at other pools because they were heading for over %50 of the network hash rate so I moved over to D13 - AEON Mining Pool but the payout was less because they only had about 30 miners vs over 600 on aeon-pool.com. so I moved back since the fee is back to %1.

Also check out List of all AEON pools for a list of all the pools, I think the payout would be ok as long as there are over hundred or two miners.

Oct update

Received the power bill for Oct , power cost related to mining about $750 .
Generated about 11 XMR + 0.5 ZCASH , $1023 XMR + $100 ZCASH
not really profit if accounting for hardware expenditure.

But enough money to keep mining for another month.

I am burning about 80Kw per day x 30 = 2400 KW per month for mining. ( may be 85Kw per day ).

I took two RX470 offline in the past month, only using two RX480. After consideration, I am actually loosing money while mining Zcash. Last Sat, I stopped GPU mining until I learn how to mod the BIOS for higher hashrate and power efficiency.

There are 2 x Intel 2u 4nodes (total 16 x E5-2660 v1 ), with 4.63 H/s per watt.
2 X Asus 2u 4nodes with E5 v3 are performing around 6.x H/s per watt.

For the past month, I learned to mod X99 board BIOS with increase hashrate, my best so far is a Aasrock X99 with allcore turbo E5-2650L v3 with almost 8 H/s per watt.

But it doesn't heat my home in the winter. ;)

I like to tinker with hardware as well, hosting hardware remotely is not ideal.

This is a hobby, do not really turn it into money working "job".

I do not want sign any contract commitment, because my family life could change in an instance.

Nice to see the XMR difficulty is dropping along with the price - as of writing it is down to 25 billion from its usual 31 billion. Time to mine while the going is (relatively) easy...
