E5-2673 v3 = 639H/s Ubuntu 14 with xmr-stak-cpu
Another late night 11pm low ball BO $125 E5-2683 v3 SR1XH CPU
E5-2683 v3 , L3 cache 35M , 2.0Ghz = 615 H/s
E5-2673 v3 , L3 cache 30M , 2.4Ghz = 639 H/s

RickGrick, It's four socket system on E7 4890v2 (15core each at 3.2Ghz ) Dell PowerEdge.
On Ubuntu 17.04 with latest kernel it pushes 3390-3400H/s stable
BUT it's very expensive server...

It takes my ASUS 4 nodes server with 8 X E5-2650 v3 ES cpu produced the same hashrate.
865-880 H/s x 4 = 3480 H/s , Total power usage: 576-584w

How much power 4 x E7-4890v2 system consumes?

I don't know if this makes any sense, but I get 185H/s on a Dual L5520 (I have 4 nodes for a Total of 740H/s).
I started one thread for each logical CPU, so 16 threads per node, which is the only configuration which gives me reasonable hashrates.
Power is free where I have the nodes.

You should start 4 threads/CPU :)
1thread=2MB l3
You have 8MB L3/2= 4 threads

You can make more efficient mode - low power with stak miner -> 4MB L3/thread but you will losse 15% of hashrate.

You are seeing the effect of not having AES-support in the CPU.

You can easily double that by simply going to L5640 CPUs which are really cheap right now. I went from about 180 to just over 400 for each node. The CPUs are going for about $18 on eBay.

Spectacular hash rate and performance, but how about the platform cost? I shudder to think what the system you have under test cost @Patrick ...

Man, those numbers look epyc!

Sort of makes sense for that amount of L3 cache though... I'm getting almost 700H/s on my single E5-2690v3 with 15 threads running on 30MB of L3 cache. Epyc 7601 evidently has 64MB of L3 cache, so you can run 32 threads on a single chip and it's a newer architecture. So, 1600H/s per chip vs. ~1400 H/s for the E5 if it had a 64MB L3 cache.

I will get L5630, which have 12MB too but only cost 4$. Power draw should be a few watt lower too.

Chips have a list price of around $4k each. 512GB of RAM costs a bit as does the system.

Still, enough to more than pay for colocation costs of the machine if you have periods where it is inactive.

Can you tell what clock is when you load all cores in cinebench v monero?

Performance is better/same as GPU I suppose... that H/s you can get on 4x rx 480 with same power consumption
