I'm sure of the fan speeds. It's a Intel P4000M chassis. 4U pedastal / rack unit with 2x120mm fans. Pretty quiet. see the second pic for IPMI readings

Is the 92% of good results normal with stak? I've not seen this behavior with STH image it was 100% for the few weeks I mined. Can't recall of the top of my head if it was wolf / ccminer. I'm mining on dwarfpool if that matters.

ah, ok. yes, with 120mm fans that sounds normal. are there any fans for the cpus themselves, or do they work ok with just the chassis airflow?

In any case, that sounds like a lot of bad shares. I've noticed a handful on penalty shares myself now that I've started using stak on more of my servers, but certainly not 1%, let alone 8%. Sounds like something is wrong.

2P EPYC 7251 currently running 969H/s at 217W. Likely could shave that to 200W without 10GbE, <16 DIMMs installed and no NVMe U.2 SSDs.

Guys - my E5 2696v3 is pulling in 750 to 800 h/s and I am wondering if its worthwhile to keep mining assuming power is is free? I have a dual E5 2696 V4 workstation coming online as well in the coming weeks to join the party.

Selling these expensive CPUs you'll get much more bucks

Instead of using 16 physical cores for the 2P EPYC 7251, changed to using 32 threads (64MB L3/ 2) and now getting 1344H/s at 243W

Did a sanity check at 30 threads and went down to 1255H/s

Added 2P EPYC 7281 and 1P EPYC 7601 with power consumption.

Hi, are you using Windows or Linux for that results?

I'd say if you've got free power then it's the cost of using it for mining against selling it and just buying coin today.

Ubuntu 16.0.4 with xmr-stak-cpu

Sept 2017
ASUS Z9PE , single CPU E5-2696 v2 , 8 x 8gb RAM ,
E5-2696 v2 ( L3 30MB , 15 Threads ) , 670 H/s , 180w = 3.72 H/s per watt

Update , bios disable unused cores
E5-2696 v2 (8 active cores , 15 Threads ) , 630 H/s , 157w = 4.0 H/s per watt

Not a good CPU for XMR mining.

It's not the best but its not horrible.

For whatever reason, I have two identical Supermicro 1230v2 machines running for Monero using xmr-stak-cpu. Same hardware, processor, pool, etc. Just did a fresh install on both of them as well.

One is maxing at 267H/s, but the other is only seeing 106H/s. I've compared variables set at a mobo and they appear to be identical. Nothing different has been done to either machine.

I'm surely missing something somewhere though - this sounds too far off to not be a setting somewhere. Anyone have ideas?
