Having just purchased one, thought I'd start a thread for owners to share experience*
Ive been using an MS-01 for a year or so now, and its great wee box, but.. the mix of P and E cores can cuase the odd issue. MS-A2 seemed a good candidate to replace it. The alternative being one of the DH/DL Proliants with huge thread counts, huge RAM.. and excessive noise and power drain!
Purchased as a bare bones 9955HX, as whilst the NVMe drive would have sufficed, the 32GB would be insufficient; Im looking at ideally 128GB. In any case, I have spare NVMe drives that will suffice. Its neither a daily driver nor light gaming rig so I am not too concerned about transfer speed. Heck, I grew up on paper tape and punched card storage so....
Box arrived today; very quick delivery from HK to UK, less than a week from payment to front door. A pleasant surprise as the MS-01 took almost a month. Simple cardboard carton, and snugly inside the shrink-wrapped retail box itself. I haven't opened it yet - no need without a drive or memory.
Any other users on the site? Any recomendations on SODIMM brands to use, or avoid? Any issues with drives, expansion cards, heat, or recommended first actions such as replacing the provided CPU thermal solution? Are the 10GB nics as prone to overheating as those in the MS01? (my solution to that was to place a USB-powered fan to the rear of the box. Ugly, but self powered and does the job).
*Had a quick search on the forum and there doesnt appear to be a dedicated thread for this - apols if I missed it.
