Spent near an hour fighting google on this.. I do not want PCIe. I do not want to mount an m.2 2280 drive. Google wants me to "shop", not return actual links to articles. I do not want "images". googles minus operator seems to do nothing. same results with "-pcie" search term vs without.

Sigh. Thinking this unit will be getting returned to my local Microcenter if I get no reply from Minisforum.

Tried googling for an adapter about 45 minutes. they want to sell.. I do not want images, I do not want PCIe, I do not want to mount an m.2 drive. I also do not want 2280. I want a sled with a u2 connection with an m.2 ribbon cable. google sux!

If minisforum does not reply within a week and provide a shipping number for the u.2 mount then this unit is going back to MicroCenter.

Sigh.

It would be nice if someone could make the new bios 1.06 available.I tried a 7950x3d it works fine on 1.03. But the 9950x would not even post.

I think that if you buy a new MS-A1 unit, the BIOS version 1.06 comes preinstalled. I had to replace one of the units I bought because the socket was mangled (damn those LGA sockets) and it came with 1.06. That version supports Ryzen 9000 without a problem, although there should be an easy to find option for restricting TDP to 65W.
Can you make the bios available

My unit did not include the u.2 adapter. I checked the box three times..

Anyway, not going to worry about it, the optane is 15mm and I doubt it will fit. It also needs SATA power.

AIDA64 crashed after 30 some hours on the first dry. Up to 46 hours now, will let it run another week. If it seems stable I will let it stay in my house, otherwise it can go back to MicroCenter.

This was sent to me after I requested BIOS 1.06. I suggest you wait for the MOS radiator the minisforum will make available or write them and ask for the update.
Header profile photo
Jax Jiang (jax.jiang.007@gmail.com) has shared the following item:
After updating this BIOS, the default TDP will become 65W with G, single CCD less than or equal to 6 cores, 65W, greater than 6 cores 100W.
At 100W TDP, a MOS radiator on the back is required, otherwise it may restart and lose power. If your CPU falls within the 100WCPU range, you need to manually adjust the TDP to 65W without a MOS radiator. CBS->SMU-> Fast/Slow PPT Setting

How do I access the bottom of this unit? I have the top off, I can see the boot SSD, and another empty 2280 slot. No screw on that one and the box does not contain anything?!? WTF? Wanting to keep the Win 11 boot disk (which will never be used but for storage), a clone of my Optane boot disk, and the new 4tb Crucial disk. Need one slot on the bottom. Sigh.

Read the PDF manual, and the 2 screws and the puller do not allow any movement. Had to take out all the screws to move it.

It is a mystery..

Thanks.

The two screws on the bottom at the back (where the ethernet ports are) are to be removed. Then take the little clamp or twiser tool and grap the lowest, nearest the bottom row of vents nearest the power connector. The first time you should pull hard.

Hi,
It is possible to put a 15mm optane 900p in the case.

You need to remove the big sticker on top of the housing and remove both screws to get the top off.
After that you need to remove the thermal 'foam'.
That gets you enough clearance to glue diy 2mm thick copper heatsinks to the 7 chips without touching the mesh of the case.

I can't make a picture of it at the moment, but I could make one when I'm home if you like.

Does the M.2 slot/adapter give enough power to run it? I had doubts.

Maybe someone here has an unused U.2 adapter they do not need? Minisforum has not responded to my email yet..

Does anyone have the v1.06 BIOS that they can share? I have emailed support for three days, and all they do is reply and ask for one piece of information.

Is v1.06 the latest they offer?

First email sent I requested the share of the BIOS. They sent me a Google drive link but when I click it requires "request for access". I sent them another email and they say they only advice to install the v1.06 bios only if you have new mos heatsink. I then reply with another email asking them what is the new mos heatsink, and then they reply asking for my purchase order number. I replied and then yet again they replied asking for the serial numbers for the 2 units that I purchased. OMG, when will they actually share the damn file? Furthermore, why can't they just post the damn thing on the support website?

The level of customer service is appalling.

STH, can you please take into consideration when you review products in the future? This obviously is a huge factor to be considered as part of the purchasing decision.

I received new revision with 1.06 bios and ryzen 9000 support on box.
It have different fan on bottom side.
And it look like not compatible with U2 adapter from ms-01.

May be they create new version.
No U2 adapter in box.
Ryzen 9600X wirh out of box.
But memory only 5200, how to set 5600?
Kinston Fury 2*32GB 5600 kit.

I found a picture on Reddit of the new "MOS Radiator", and it's indeed the one that comes with new MS-A1 units. I received mine today, and same as you, it has the 1.06 BIOS, the new MOS Radiator, and no U2 adapter (but the switch is still on the board...). This makes sense since the US store is now selling the R9-9950X CPU instead; I suspect the 8700G is getting hard to source, since the Japanese storefront (where I bought mine) has also been sold out since I started looking.

I also bought 5600 RAM for my Ryzen 7 9700X, but it's only running at 5200 from what I can see. Hopefully that'll be fixed somehow.

(I note that people were talking about the MOS Radiator going "on the back", but I suspect that was a miscommunication somewhere, as it goes on the back (underside) of the board, not the whole device as I imagined previously.)

The same Reddit thread had someone report that they were sent the new MOS heatsink for free, so I suspect that's what the customer support person is trying to do for you, but hasn't been clear about. (They probably want to record the serial numbers so they only send out one heatsink per device, to protect against heatsink hoarders, I guess?)

Yea I received my new MOS heatsink for my 2 MS-A1 units earlier this week. From my initial testing, I can't see any temperature or performance gain with it (both units were bought barebone, and I installed 8700G on one and 7800X3D on the other).

Does anyone know how to OC the memory? I came across this (GitHub - DavidS95/Smokeless_UMAF) but not an expert in dealing with BIOS. I am hoping some experts here can shed some light.

Cheaper if you buy the barebone and the 9950x separately. You can get the CPU for 600 USD on Amazon. Also, the 9950X has a TDP of 170W. Even if the 1.06 bios can pump out 100W, that's still not a good fit for the 9950x. It doesn't make sense. Does anyone have any insight for why they use this CPU instead or something like 9700x?
