Not sure if you can run CSODIMM memory in the MS-01, I would think it would need BIOS support. Someone can correct me on that.

I've also had issues in the past when trying to run higher speed memory in something that is designed for lower speeds. If it's within a reasonable range (5600 to, 5200 or sometimes 4800) it usually works. In one instance I tried running 5200 in something that was spec'd for 3200 and the system would not boot. Only reason I tried it was that was the only thing I had on hand.

Got the kit and have it installed in one of my MS-01's that keeps freezing/locking up randomly. Anyway after installing it took about 1-2mins for they system to boot into the BIOS, this seems to be a one time thing due to memory training. Other than that the MS-01 recognized the ram and Proxmox booted without issue. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if I have any problems.

Simply registered to keep up to date with this thread.

Thank you for your service Earth4s, I will revise my build and order some 128gb kits for my upcoming lab project.
If you find out what is causing one of your nodes to freeze up, please let us know - Great work.

I tried using a gmail.com email address and got a response in a few minutes. They had several things they wanted me to try which I had already done.
I've had my replacement MS-01 for about five days. The replacement actually shipped from Newegg.

I'm still waiting on the replacement RAM from Crucial. All I've received are emails with a PDF of the replacement order, emails seem to be ignored. The PDF shows the replacement RAM isn't scheduled to ship until June!

Hi everyone. I‘m wondering if anyone here has experience with or knowledge about running the i5-12600H processor with 96GB of Crucial RAM (model CT48G56C46S5). My main concern is whether the i5-12600H can fully utilize all 96GB of RAM without any issues.
I got it working with 2x48Gb.
did memtest for 10 hours and it’s been a week. No issues so far with the i5 and 96gb ram
I am using 2x CORSAIR Vengeance SODIMM DDR5 RAM 96GB (2x48GB) 5200MHz CL44 Intel XMP iCUE Compatible Computer Memory - Black (CMSX96GX5M2A5200C44)

My MS-01 has shipped so now time to select the components. I’m looking at Crucial T500 2TB which can be had with or without a heat sink.

Which should I get? Will heat sink fit?

Thx

First of all since if my first post here on forum even if I follow the YT channel since a good amount of time, thanks for your amazing videos.

Regarding memory, I think is worth to mention that 96GB configuration only works on Intel i9-13900H configuration. If you order the 12th gen to save some bucks, you have the usual maximum 64GB (32GBX2) of memory RAM, at least according to intel processor datasheet.
not correct. I have the i5 12600h with 2x48GB installed. Did memtest and the system has been stable for 7 days so far

The first one you listed won't fit since it's a full sized pcie card, while the ms-01 only supports small-form factor ones.
The second one is interesting. Curious if you found an answer to your question? I found a similar one (PE3162-4IL) from Shinreal, it seems to be 175mm long. So far I do know that a 168mm card fits (RTX 4000), and that a 185mm card won't (Sonnet FUS-SSD-2X4-E3S).

EDIT: Below are the schematics that Shinreal sent me. They mentioned being unsure if it can be installed in a MS-01.

"Hello. I have a device with a 12900H processor. At the moment, I am looking for the right memory, but unfortunately, I am confused. I have the following questions:
1) I understand that not only the 13900H processor supports 96 GB, but also the 12900H and i5 as well.
2) Does only the 13900H processor support 5600 MHz? Is that the highest frequency that can be achieved with this processor on the MS-01, or can higher clock rates be forced in the BIOS?
3) Does my version with the 12900H processor have a maximum of 4800 MHz?
4) If I have a 12900H processor, is it better to buy 5600 MHz CL46 memory or 4800 MHz CL38? In this case, I am considering 64 GB of RAM as CL38 is not avaliablefor higher capasity.
Thanks in advance for your support.

I just received my MS-01 with i5 processor (DHL got it from Hong Kong to USA very fast!). I bought 2x 24GB Crucial CL46 DDR5-5600 SODIMMs for a total of 48GB installed. The BIOS reports that the memory speed is 4800 MHz. There is a setting in the BIOS to set the maximum memory speed, so I changed that to 5600 MHz, but it did not seem to make a difference... BIOS still reported memory speed as 4800.

I have the 13900H with 1x48GB Crucial CT48G56C46S5 running at 5600 MHz. Smooth so far. I had to set it manually to 5600 in the BIOS, the automatic setting puts it to 5200 MHz.

Answering my own question... my MS-01 with i5 just arrived and I did install the Crucial T500 2TB with heatsink (advertised as PS5 compatible). It does fit... but just. The metal plate that holds the fan firmly touches the T500's heatsink... which is probably a good thing, as that may further help with heat dissipation.

The barebones system I ordered did come with a heatsink that I could have applied to a regular NVMe drive. But as the T500 was the same price with or without heatsink, I ordered it with. Also in the box was a short (18-24inches) HDMI to HDMI cable.
