Hi everyone, I'm asking here since I couldn't find any other place mentioning this:

I bought a Intel SSDPE2KX010T807 but unfortunately it doesn't fit inside since it's too tall and I cannot remount the fan nor close the case. I'm quite new to enterprise drives and standards. Is there a compatibility chart or something I should be specifically search for to find U2 drives that actually fit inside the ms01?

Many thanks!

17 isnt the current firmware that we have? maybe we they put it there so if we dont like something in the 22 to be able to downgrade?
Mine shipped back in March came with 17, updated to 22 yesterday.

While the update process went smoothly, upon reboot screen was blank and that had me immediately regret the decision to update. Anyway, after clearing up the CMOS, screen finally came back. Phew...

Did not dig into all the BIOS options to identity what's new but system is running stable, which is all I care.

Hey @dvdplm, I have exactly the same issue with the same hardware. When you move back in this thread you can find the advice to tape few pins in the pcie card. I tried almost everything, disabling other pcie ports, removing disks, tapeing every combination of pins, but it still doesn't work. If you find a solution please post it here. Today I flashed bios hoping it will help but no, it didn't.
I'm waiting for newer bios, this is only hope.
Btw, this is my second MS-01, I sent back the first one because of this issue, I thought I got broken unit.
Stay in touch, I hope they will finally fix it.
No progress on this for me. I’m in contact with minisforum support and they asked me to do the taping, but no dice.

This is particularly annoying given this card was included in the “works” list that started this whole thread.

I have ordered a different card on eBay for $21 (LSI SAS 9207-4i4e SAS HBA 6Gbps PCI-E 3.0 P20 IT Mode) so worst case I’ll run with that.

Probably I'm overthinking this but realized after replacing Topton Ryzen 7, 4 x i226-V box with MS-01 after two years how noisy the fan has gotten.

Anybody knows how to get spare CPU fan for MS-01?
You could ask Linda Parts Wholesale to post it for sale:

EDIT:

Also you might consider putting one of these fish net filters on top of the fan to keep the dust out:

Thanks for the pointer.

Having a spare won't hurt I figured and these laptop size fans are not really know to have good quality or longevity unlike Noctua, easy to find and replace.

If by first M.2 slot up mean one that's designated to take U.2 drive, yes, 7-8mm will be height clearance for any heatsink. Slot in the middle can take 1mm slim heatsink. And one of the far right (right below the fan) have zero clearance, so putting any heatsink on that one is no possible.

Yeah, I'm referring to the U.2 slot however upon checking the Crucial T500 with heatsink dimension it has a height of around 9.65mm. :(

Few clever folks on here added a shim to extend the height to accommodate 15mm tall U.2, if custom modding is your thing.

I am ordering a barebone MS-01, I wonder if they will still include the heatsink in the package so that I can swap it to the Crucial T500 own heatsink if ever.

Is there an updated list of GPUs which people have been successful using on the MS-01?

I am using the machine with Proxmox VE for Home Assistant, Frigate, and some other home lab stuff. I would like to add an extra GPU to the machine to fully pass it to a Windows VM for direct connect screen output, this way I can share the iGPU to Frigate, Jellyfin, etc. I understand if I share the iGPU I cannot direct display any of those containers/VMs except through Remote Desktop, but I want to actually connect the Windows VM to my home stereo and TV.

I don't need the most powerful device and I am not worried about extreme FPS or spending over $200. The purpose of that is just so my kid can plan some games on the TV.
