I've only had one crash.
I just did the microcode in the youtube video, changed from 0x410c to 0x411c.
Ouch, was the crash due hybrid core related or something else? Remind me of N5105 in early days, total disaster.

Keep us posted if you see positive results with new microcode.

Is there any substance behind the MS-02 "rumors"? Seems to me like it's more wishful thinking than anything else right now.
I also wanted to know same thing (mainly for AMD ECC support) and got this replay from Minisforum support on 12th Jan when asked for AMD version:
"At the moment, it seems that there will be no AMD version produced."

Got my MS-01 up and running a few days ago and so far loving this system. I wasn't able to use the 9206-16e HBA, I don't think it was a compatibility issue, rather it seems the card was likely already dead, it was pulled from a DC several years ago and I never had a use for it until now. The MS-01 seemed to pick it up, but it was constantly resetting and overheated within minutes before starting to smell like it was going to let out the magic smoke lol. I have a 9300-8e card on the way, hopefully should have better luck with that.

As for the OS, I installed and booted into Windows Server 2022 and XigmaNAS just to test, but ended up going with Ubuntu 22.04 LTS. Something I was pretty happy about is that Ubuntu natively supports Thunderbolt Networking, which means I can run a USB4 cable between the MS-01 and my workstation for 20 Gbps connectivity. It works well once connected and configured, but I've had some issues where the Thunderbolt network interface does not come back up when disconnected and reconnected; not sure if it's something on the Windows or Ubuntu side. As for workloads I'm mostly running containers, but have a few KVM VM's managed through Cockpit. Performance is great, but I did experience a crash or two which I suspect may have been related to the E-cores since it happened when the system was under heavy load.

From what i read from here and there, for virtalization to have enabled all the cores is a hit or miss situation. I think i will be perfectly OK to have enabled only the P-Cores and call it a day. When i will finish the installation i will try with only the E-Cores also to see the difference in speed and power consumption.

For KVM based virtualization it shouldn't be a problem, esp with the latest microcode and a relatively recent kernel. For ESXi and Xen virtualization there are issues with big/little architecture and virtualization.

Thought I was having some issues passing through the sata card. Turns out I left the poor test vm with only 4gb of RAM and testing with ZFS on some spare disks was giving me all sorts of drive errors. All pointed to an issue with the sata controllers (and it worked fine on the host proxmox os because it could access all 64gb of ram).

I love diagnosing issues in linux. Almost too much info sending me down the wrong route...

PS: the QNAP cards pissy little fan ruins the amazing job Minis did to make the MS-01 quiet.

Just realized that Ubuntu 22.04 still ships with an old 5.15 kernel which may have been causing some of my issues. When upgrading to the latest kernel, I kept running into issues with the i226 and MediaTek controllers not being picked up, only the x710's. It seems I also needed to install the 'linux-generic-hwe-20.04' package to allow the proper kernel modules to load, not sure why this isn't installed with the kernel itself so I must be doing something wrong, but at least it's working now with all of the proper drivers loaded.

"apt install --install-recommends --install-suggests linux-image-6.5.0-17-generic linux-generic-hwe-20.04"

Just for reference in case anyone else runs into a similar issue.

Assuming the slot has USB2.0 wired up.
Shout out to @MetalPhreak for making me aware of this type of adapter, I grabbed one from Amazon and confirmed it works fine in the A+E slot and was able to install/boot Ubuntu 23.10 without jumping through any hoops. Appears to connect through a USB bus so performance is probably trash, but should work fine as a boot device. Not sure why it doesn't show up under lspci, so here's the lshw output:

I was also looking into solutions and found a A+E key SSD. I'm currently not living in the EU, but may ship it to some friends there who forward it to me.

I got my ms-01 today. If someone is interested in idle power consumption:
  • 13900H
  • 64GB Crucial 5600Mhz
  • 1x Samsung Evo 1TB
  • 2x Lexar NM790 4TB
  • Wifi and Audio deactivated in the BIOS, ASPM for SSD on auto
Installed proxmox, without anything loaded or installed, the ms-01 uses 11-14W in idle.

Is the Lexar NM790 the only single-side 4TB NVMe available? Any issues with heat using > 2TB drives?
I plan to use 2X Samsung PM983a 22110 Enterprise NVMe in RAIDZ1. Those run fairly hot. Wonder if I'll run into issues with thermal?

can't answer your question, but take note that row of perforations is meant to break off the extra length if necessary.

That converts A+E key 2230 pcie slot to some wireless card slot. The port on top doesnt look like any ngff slot. Even says on the pcb wireless card to a/e key… A+E key is what we have in the MS-01 and what you want is M key for an ssd.

about the only solution is that special embedded disk linked earlier and it was only launched on paper last November so availability is pretty scarce. It’s also a very niche product.
