Hi all,
I'm currently running a 3rd node for proxmox on and old board, dual xeon, without case, open on my rack machine. This server cannot remain in production in my infra. This node is used almost only to have a third node; I do not realy need the power if this machine in my cluster.
I currently run a ProxmoxBackupServer on it as VM, nothing else. I also have 2 1TB nvme disk for my ceph cluster and a dedicated 10GB link.

What i'm looking it to replace it by a small (and ideally low power) mini PC. My only request are:
- being able to handle the 2 nmve disk
- having a 10GB (ideally SFP+) interface (and also a 1GB interface)
As I told, the 2 other nodes will run the VMs.

The best machine I can see is a beautiful Minisforum MS-01, but for a "almost not used third node" it's a bit expensive.

I looked for something like Lenovo M920, but the single x16 PCIe slot will allow me to place only one of the 2 card (SPF or nvme adapter). As I can see, this PC have a single nvme slot, i'm not sure if CEPH will allow me to include a single 2TB nvme to replace my two 1TB. (My CEPH is based on 3 node with 2x 1TB nvme by host)

Anyone have recomendation, or idea for my setup ?

Thank you all,

You can use Lenovo P330, which is similar to M920, but have two M.2 slots. With raiser you can add SFP+ card. I have three of these on my desk right now and they work very well.

Migrate to 2-node setup + simple voter. A Rasp will do just fine. Set priorities. Get off Ceph and convert it to DRBD for just the 2-node Proxmox. Check out Linstore w/DRBD community edition. Or just run ZFS replication.

Thank you all,
The MS01 is a bit beefy for the use case - Eh...the easiest is probably something like an HP t755 thin client with a Solarflare SFN5122 (those are low wattage PCIe 2x8 SFP+ cards and won't cause overheating issues), although I am not sure if you only need 2 NVMe slots...or 3 (since you will conceivably need one to host the boot media) - a Lenovo P-series chassis will also work...although I would suggest using an SFF chassis instead of a TinyMiniMicro for something like that since it'll always provide more room to grow just-in-case.
