Hi all. Disclosure first: I'm one of the developers of Predastore, an open-source S3-compatible object store (GitHub - mulgadc/predastore: High-performance object storage platform, fully compatible with the S3 API. Designed for environments where speed, redundancy, and resiliency are critical.). However, with MinIO archived and no longer getting patches, I got curious about the feasibility of Predastore as a stand-in. Worked quite well, considering Predastore primarily targets edge/remote deployments, and was never really meant to be a MinIO replacement.
Wrote up a full migration guide and thought it might be useful here, since plenty of people on STH run MinIO on homelab and SMB gear.
The guide covers:

I'd really like to hear from anyone who tries it on real hardware, whether it worked or broke. GitHub issues are welcome, and I'll be in this thread answering questions.

The guide covers:
- Single-node and multi-node setups, either standalone or under Spinifex (which adds IAM/STS and multi-tenancy)
- Running Predastore on your existing MinIO drives during the migration, so you don't need new disks
- Choosing Reed-Solomon data/parity settings for your drive and host count
- Converting MinIO policies to IAM, including the parts that don't carry over
- Copying buckets with rclone, verifying with rclone check --download, and switching clients over
- Standalone mode only has root credentials, with no per-user policies
- Path-style requests only, and HTTPS only
- Under Spinifex, each node's data currently sits on a single drive (can be worked around with ZFS)
- The RS setting can't be changed once data has been written
