Im finally upgrading my old RAID6 array to modern-ish drives/specs:

Current array

1) 20x 4tb sata drives in a RAID6, controlled by an Areca 1882ix-24i.
2) Chassis is a passive backplane Norco RPC-4220 with 20 hotswap bays

New array

1) 16 x 8tb SAS drives, JBOD, controlled by a LSI-9300-16i
2) No chassis

I need to transfer all the data to the new drives, at which point I will decommission the old array, and install the new drives into the Norco.

I see a couple paths to do this, but want opinions on best methodologies

1) Buy a used BPN-SAS-826A backplane off ebay to temporarily hook up 12 of the drives at a time. Connect it with mini-SAS > mini-SAS to the HBA + a couple of molex's

2) Buy a bunch of 8087-8482 cables, hook them up to the drives, then power them each individually with SATA power connectors.

Neither one of these is very clean, but id like opinions on how ya'll would do this data TX.
