Microsoft Surface Pro Cracked Screen - The Odessy

Sadly, on a United Airlines flight my Surface Pro decided to hit the metal seat support and the screen shattered. This happened shy of two months after getting the Microsoft Surface Pro. As one may expect I was bummed.

I started looking at articles and found that basically any out of warranty accidental breakage costs $469. Bummer!

Good thing is that the extended warranty with accidental protection was only $149 so it looks like I'm going to save a bit by picking that option. Will use this to document the process. Hoping better than this guy.

You say that but I'm at O'Hare right now delayed 2 plus hours on an American Airlines flight. Orbitz has delay notifications before the gate agent.

Go to Rick bayless (gate k5) and get a torta. Place is so good. I was there just hour ago. Too bad mine wasn't delayed, coulda met up.

Went to a Microsoft store today. Apparently purchasing the Surface Pro extended warranty + accidental protection online means that they have trouble looking it up in store. The good news is that I logged into my account from a demo PC and showed them. A $54 deductable later and I got a new unit. Bonus: They gave me a new retail box with Stylus and Power brick! That was worth the extra $50 easily!

Total process time <20 minutes even with the lookup trouble.
