Thats not my point - my point is you do not know what drive you will get - its whatever they decide of "major" brand - however they decide to quantify that. I'm sure they can just send you whatever and still be well within their rights.
30 day return. Seller pays return shipping. 100% feedback. What's not to love?

UNIX Surplus is extremely well-known and trustworthy. I personally have no trouble believing they're selling _only_ the four brands they list:

It may be Intel, Sandisk, Samsung, or Micron.

When I asked about guaranteed minimum health, they offered to send SMART results for what would be my order. I'm just trying to figure out how many make sense right now

I ordered two just to see what I get. I forgot to tell them not to include Sandisk if possible, the order already shipped. Why you ask? I've had bad experience with CloudSpeed ECO drives, and apparently others too in this forum.

SM863 960GB for as low as $44/ea shipped... I need 10-20 of something like this and wonder if this is the best option. Might hold out a bit longer.

Our local hub (about 20 minutes away) occasionally holds onto packages for 4+ days before they get to the local delivery hub. They won't let you pick up, either.

For $35 any 800GB enterprise SSD will do, even if they are at 50% health they'll have more endurance than any 1TB consumer drive.

Also, CloudSpeed ECO are read-intensive drives that are generally lower performance speed-wise and pretty low endurance for an "enterprise" product. Lots of current 1TB consumer products with more endurance than a CloudSpeed.

OTOH, I use mine only for read intensive stuff on a 1G network and they've worked really well for that.

Sometimes a package gets to the destination hub completely intact and they have to hold it over to kick around a bit before delivery.

Since you only ordered one, maybe the box is small enough that they can use it as the puck in a game of floor hockey in the warehouse?

Mine arrived today and Fed Ex delivered it to a house 2 blocks away.

Fortunately they brought it to me. :)

It's a Intel S3500. Health is 46% and it has about 50,000 hours on it.

There's a reason these are so cheap.

The S3500 has low endurance, I'll hardly call it enterprise grade. At 800GB endurance rating is 450TBW, so you have a little over 200TBW left. Not bad for non-server use @$35. For that price I only find QLC and/or DRAMless crap in my country and not more than 500GB capacity.

I wanted to buy a couple of these and they're gone.

@Glock24 , no big loss that you missed the deal.

I purchased 4 SM863 SSD from the same seller.
3 out of 4 SSD have problems with slow write performance ( 161 MB/s , same speed as a HD ).
I tried using Samsung DCT tools to secure erase it , double checked SSD is connected in SATA 3 mode.
Tried with few other computers.

3 SSD still stuck with very slow write performance , only one SSD is performing normal.
All 4 SM863 had the same firmware GB32.
Returned all 4 SSD and received full refund yesterday.

I been using few PM953 960gb nvme SSD for the past 3-4 years, paid between $65 to $110 each.
I am happy with the PM953 SSD, so picked up 2 more at $45 each from the ebay links above.
