Spec sheet for those wondering:

Seems like it could be a good deal, wonder what he is willing to take with BO. It's ITRecycleNow aka unixsurplus aka mrrackables so probably not much lower than asking.

Please note those are not NVMe so need driver support. Not FreeBSD but most others are no problem.

Thanks.

How much airflow do you need for these?
I am planning to install one in a 1U server, and I am wondering if I will have to add additional cooling, is that a bad idea?

Have not used the m but got some 320h (SLC variant) and it does get hot, so some cooling would be good

The 420m doesn't run nearly as hot as the 320h. Have both running in the same chassis and it's a good 10-15 degrees cooler.
