What is is the recommended memory configuration with the following requirements:

System board: Supermicro X10SDV-4C-7TP4F
Processor: Intel® Xeon® processor D-1518
The system board supports DDR4, 4 slots, dual rank, 4x data width.
Purchasing 32GB, and potential for 64GB in future.
I want full memory speed (bandwidth, channels, latency, etc).
Crucial is the manufacturer I'm looking at.

I've seen registered and unbuffered. I really don't know why to choose which, except if I want more than 64 GB then I have no choice but registered. I'm thinking of registered memory because I've read something about not putting the load onto the system board. I also don't see unbuffered memory from the manufacturer for the configuration I'm currently considered.

I'm also seeing single/dual rank, and data width. I don't know how to choose which, when, why, and for what scenarios.

Can someone explain some of the scenarios to help me choose the best memory?

Here are some memory comparisons:

Get RDIMM with that board.

D-1518 = 2133mhz mem max. If 2400 is the same price then get that one but if you can save the 2133 is good.

MTA36ASF4G72PZ-2G3B1 is the tested Micron 32GB module. 16gb there's a Hynix part HMA42GR7AFR4N-UH
