I had to set 56gbe from web gui section first even for mellanox cables. Default mode was 40gbe. I got my 3m cables off ebay around 45$/each. Dell DAC was around 35 for 7m.

I just checked, the nic (connectx3 non pro) supports 56Gbe but does not advertise it to the switch.
The link stays down when forcing the switch to 56Gbe.
So FS.com cables are not an option if you really need 56Gbe.

i386,on original mellanox cable with pn MC220731V placed sticker 56GB\s and at mellanox documents its goes as 56gb VPI meaning its capable both IB and ETH @ 56gb\s and i can confirm it negotiates at 56GB.There are other mellanox pn cables and they might be limited @ 40GB\s.They did their own cables with 14Gbit\s per lane)))even if its just theoretical cap its nice.

I didn't know fs.com sold those, something to consider when adding my next server to the network.
Thanks.

MC2207130 is passive copper cable, that will go 56gbe infiniband and 40gbe ethernet,it might be more latency in 40gbe ethernet mode than active fiber cable, its important in storage fabrics.
quote from manual:
"Mellanox QSFP+ direct attach copper (DAC) cables provide robust connections for leading edge 56Gb/s InfiniBand or 40GbE Ethernet systems"

Nahh, that is like 10 years too new

You get that on the 100G switches as a 4:1 split, but the old generation only has 10,20,40 and 56 - (20 only since its an old IB standard speed)

Mellanox MSX6036F-2SFS 36 Port QSFP FDR Managed InfiniBand Switch SX6036 2 AC | eBay
These worth it at $300 USD if you're willing to put in the work? I already have two converted SX6012 at 3.6.1002, but as someone pointed out earlier VXLAN wasn't supported until 3.6.3004.

Also, if folks are looking for cheaper 56Gb/s VPI cables, I was successful with a first try best offer for 10x at $11.05 USD/$15 CAD for these 2M:
