Thanks for the suggestion... But i already have some Voltaire 4036 switches... So i don't need to connect the cards directly (at least for Infiniband)...
My application for these is to connect some Vmware ESXi hosts so I'm interested in having 40Gbe between these hosts. That's why i asked about the VPI switches. I did see a suggestion from :dba regarding a SX switch earlier in the thread but i wanted to know if there is anyone with such switches so i can get a real environment opinion.

Received my cards Friday. Was thinking the same thing. Good news is that Mellanox still makes ConnectX-3 cards so we might be able to get them there.

BTW... wouldn't brackets be a great thing to 3D scan and print?

how's the osx support for mellanox cards? It's hard to find cheap osx supported nic's . Solarflare is one. Myricom (emulex latest gen). intel (not free!)
