wow...these used to go for peanuts! I've bought used ones for ~$60 shipped and brand new ones for $110-120 shipped. That wasn't even that long ago, like Nov/Dec last year.

btw, the CX3 cards work fine even if you can't get some of the more esoteric stuff (like SR-IOV, RDMA, NVME-oF...) working. I mean... they'll saturate 40/56gb easily pretty much OOTB in Linux (with Inbox drivers) with literally no tuning. You just need to have a fast enough storage subsystem (which is not that difficult nowadays).

Yes, there are use cases for the esoteric stuff, but still...40gb cards for less than $10...that too TWO ports... I mean...

I actually got an updated Quote (revised UPWARDS) from the Seller: 120 USD / Piece or 150 USD / Piece (not sure if they Quoted me for 4 or 5 Pieces) for Shipping only !!! On top of the non-negotiable 40 USD / Piece Item.

Yes, this was for shipping within the US, from Milford (Connecticut) to Newark (Delaware) where Jetcarrier is, via Fedex Shipping. It's not even that far away, just around 3 Hours Drive !

They also quoted a very unreasonable Shipping to Denmark: 990 USD / Piece (for 40 USD Item).

Well, I'll wait for a better Deal somewhere else at these Prices .

Well that's a bit Apples and Oranges.

An Offer that's still not accepted is somewhat different than a Purchase to be canceled which is different than something that must be returned.

Unaccepted Offer = ZERO work for the Seller, no Time wasted for them

Canceled Purchase = A BIT of bureaucratic work for the Seller and a bit of Time wasted for them

Return = Shipping Costs to be refunded via Amazon

Nothing to do, Mellanox SX6036 right now is like Minimum of 110-115 USD including Shipping to Delaware US [JetCarrier] (and the one at 40 USD for the Product had 120 USD added for Shipping, totaling 160 USD to Delaware US [JetCarrier]).

That's a Bummer really, otherwise it would have been a good Switch .

Now I ordered quite a few NICs but ... empty handed on Switch Department. Well, kinda, I have a Voltaire 4036 Switch at Home but its Fans are so noisy I actually never deployed it .

Just got an Offer for 4 Pieces for 93 USD / Piece including Shipping within the US.

Considering how the rest of the Market is at the Moment, maybe it's better to accept even though it seems overpriced compared to what @kapone and @BackupProphet reported .

Prices move up and down according to demand! A switch like that for less than 100 USD is a great deal no matter what.

What are you gonna do with 4 of them? I’ve been thinking of getting an additional SX6036 even though I don’t need one but 50 GB nics are the same price as 25gb nics while the transceivers are much cheaper (100gb transceivers) and cables are the same price lol

I'm still not entirely sure about anything more than 2 .

But shipping these to Europe will cost not that much more between 2 and 4 I think, plus the shipping time is very high, so it's not really worth to order in 2 separate Batches . It will likely take 3-4 Months by Ship. Not sure I want these shipped by Air as it's quite expensive.

Agree about the Transceivers, QSFP28 CWDM4 are just a few Euros a Piece, whereas QSFP+ or SFP28 Transceivers are much more expensive than that.

My plan is to use QSFP+ DAC on the SX6036 and possibly a few QSFP28 CWDM4 with 2 x OS2 Fibers and hopefully it will work out with the Speed Negotiation.

uhh....be forewarned...(I think I've posted this before...)

The QSFP/QSFP+ DAC cables are thick...and heavy... and very inflexible. I've cleaned up my rack since the pictures below were taken, but damn...that's a thick stack of cables anyway you look at it.

If you're planning to pretty much max out your switch...I'd pony up (and I should have) for AOC/fiber cables/transceivers.

Yeah I saw that, but the thing is the Mellanox SX6036 would then double the Power Consumption with OS2 Fiber paired with a QSFP28 CWDM4 Transceiver, thus require higher Airflow and Noise. Not to mention Cost of each Connection would basically double ...

I'll use a few Transceivers to go to the other Rooms in the House, but for "Local" Cabling, difficult to beat a 7 USD / Piece DAC (less than the cost of the Fiber).

Only downside is that it's 5m Long and I ordered 24 of them .

Just as I bought the 4 x SX6036 for 93 USD / each shipped, I found another one that accepted offers and offered 35 USD / Piece (plus 40 USD Shipping within the US) and got accepted.

So total for this last one was 75 USD shipped. Oh well. Life sucks .
