Huge caveat up front here -- These are IBM Power architecture adapters, I picked one of these up a couple of weeks ago from the same seller and never managed to get it working. I only had one adapter to test so I don't know if my board was DoA or if the firmware on these is just incompatible with Intel systems.

I had no problem returning my adapter for a refund, so if you're willing to accept the risk of an incompatible part and deal with the return these are potentially a pretty good deal.

With that out of the way I BO'd $70CAD ($54) + shipping ($74 total.) These typically go for $110-200. These are OEM MCX312B-XCCT manufactured for IBM for use in Power architecture servers.

IBM 00RX859 PCIe3 LP 2-port 10 GbE NIC and RoCE SFP+ Copper Adapter EC37 | eBay

Also included are 2x transceivers, that's another $15-$20 in value.

If anyone decides to jump on these let me know how you do with the cross flash, I'd love to hear about it if anyone gets one working.

IBM 00RX859 cards can be used with Intel servers. They work well with VMware ESXi 6 and the VMware Mellanox drivers. I have not tried flashing stock Mellanox firmware, but the Mellanox web site has firmware for those IBM cards. Their last update is 2.36.5000 from Oct-2016.

Current firmware for stock Mellanox ConnectX-3 Pro is 2.42.5000 from Sep-2017.

IBM independently released 2.40.5030 firmware on Feb-2017 for their Linux Power Architecture systems. Have not tried it. It can be unpacked from the installation RPM as file b31507101410e704.000200405030.

Yeah, I suspected the card I received was just DOA rather than incompatible.

Cross flashing shouldn't be an issue on these but I thought I'd warn people for full disclosure.
