Mellanox Connect-X3 MCX354-FCBT shown on windows 10 x64 as mellanox VBI device on network interfaces.. but mst status shows no devices found

Hi guys..

i got a couple of used Mellanox MCX354 cards look like they were running in some oracle or HP servers..

so i tried to upgrade the firmware with the mellanox MFT tools and latest firmware stock from nvidias site.. i´ve upgraded a few cards in the past and switch them over to ethernet mode, and change boot to run just in ethernet mode.

i´ve fired up a Dell r620 used for testing this cards.. and strange enough the card did not show up on the network devices.. i had to install the windows 10 mellanox vbi latest driver pack in order to recognise the card on the network devices , and network adapters...

but when open up the MFT tool and run the cmd mst status MST devices: no devices found.


i´ve tested some other card mcx i have in ethernet mode.. and it shows up

MST devices:
------------
mt4099_pci_cr0
mt4099_pciconf0


but with this specific cards nothing shows on MST status... maybe cause its set only to run in VPI mode ?

Kind of lost and running out of ideas.. even tried rebooting the windows dell machine couple of times..result.png

i will try to go into WinMFT folder tomorrow and try to run it from there.. perhpas i´ve screwed up on this... has i´ve converted previous cards over 2 years ago..not sure if i´ve missed it for beeing out of the WinMFT folder.

what version of mst did you install? only the v4.25 (and older) of mst worked for cx3 cards on my system.

version 4.15.xx


today rebooted the server.. and the NIC card was not showing up on the ethernet devices

on the hardware manager it shows the mellanox card with vbi ports but disabled..

and now i executed the cmd again and its showing up the card on the MST status
