Running TrueNAS 12.0U2.1 as well as FreeNAS 11.3u5. OS booting off ssd attached to my motherboard sata controller. Supermicro X9 motherboard, 96GB RAM, e5-2667v2, TQ backplane (direct attach), HGST HUSMM1640ASS205 drive. I have tried flashing my M1215s multiple times, writing several different sbrs as well as trying SM and LSI branded IT firmware packages of various versions(LSI 9300-8i and SM AOC-S3008L-L8e firmwares). I have tried bypassing the backplane\cables with a whole other set of cables which power off a completely separate ATX power supply. Tried multiple different HGST HUSMM1640ASS205 drives and 4040 drives as well. Tried 2 different M1215 devices, both have the same behavior after the crossflashing. Before the crossflashing they didn't show any errors. I also get some strange errors in Windows10 event viewer related to the drives connected to the controller.
Should I be trying a different firmware than the 3008\9300 based ones? The M1215 is a LSI 9340-8i theoretically is that the reasons for these errors? Is there a way to use the LSI 9340-8i firmware?
These M1215 devices were sold as "New" and appeared so, they came in full retail new packaging. Could it be these are fake devices or somehow faulty, how could 2 fail in exactly the same way? I feel crazy because I can't see what could be causing these issues. Not sure what to do now since these cards have been flashed over I guess I can't even return them.
