I'm looking for some recommendations for M.2 NVMe SSDs for a home VMware VSAN lab as the cache tier, specifically ones that have power loss protection and which can be found on eBay for reasonable prices. Can anyone provide any recommendations? So far i'm aware of Samsung PM963 and PM953, but im not sure what else is out there. And no I cant use M.2 to U.2 adapters, I dont have the drive bays for U.2 disks.

There was a longer thread previously about Tempe Samsung drives having proper or full PLP. windows storage spaces doesn’t recognise them as providing full PLP - there was no conclusion as far as I remember. Worth finding that thread if you can, there was done hood info in it.

I am looking for a 2280 sized drive. Are there any other option available than KINGSTON Data Center DC1000B NVME SSD ?

Nice! I opted for a Samsung 1.92TB 983 DCT in a recent (re-)build but those were definitely on my radar. FYI, the best (only?) heatsink I've found for 22110 drives is the EKWB EK-M.2: EK-M.2 NVMe Heatsink - Black

They should work out of the box with your Optanes but, with a little hackery, I made them work with Intel P4511 drives.
