I've been testing this a bit on a server, but i'd like to get some feedback from others using HDDs with SSD caching.
Is LVM cache the way to go there? Any caveats i should know about?
AFAIU, it works more like storage tiering. In case the SSD cache devices fail, you might loose all your data on HDD, am i right?
Here is some stats from SSD caching on my laptop with 100GB LV cached to 28GB SSD:
------------------------------------
LVM Cache report of /dev/fedora/00
------------------------------------
- Cache Usage: 3.7% - Metadata Usage: .2%
- Read Hit Rate: 35.3% - Write Hit Rate: 83.3%
- Demotions/Promotions/Dirty: 0/15499/13
- Features in use: writeback
