I have a 9260-8i with Samsung 840 Pro as the CacheCade drive.

I have never noticed any performance increase for writes with Write Back or Write Through, in fact it may be negatively impacting.

Does anyone have any experience with RAID controllers with CacheCade/SSDs?

I don't know about broadcoms implementation, but microchip/adaptec disables the controllers cache if you use ssds. Also you need on adaptec controllers some form of redundancy (raid 1 or 5 on the ssd tier) before write caching on the ssds is activated.

Another point for low perforamnce is that you use samsung 840 pro ssds. These are consumer ssds that decrease in perforamnce under sustained workloads like caching. Use enterprise ssds with powerloss protection like intel 3710/4610 or hgst husmm.

I am aware of this and happy to take the hit considering the price trade off. Clearly from my testing the SSD cache is not being utilised at all for writes, presumably due to me only using 1 SSD so not redundant.
