I know this is going to sound a bit strange but I am looking for an Intel Xeon E5-2603 V4 CPU.

For the background:
  • The Intel Xeon Bronze 3104 is in a rig being benchmarked now.
  • We have a Xeon E5-2603 V3 already done
  • I was thinking it may be interesting having essentially the lowest power parts of each generation
  • All three are 6C no HT. V4 and Bronze 3104 are the same clock speed
I am open to buying, trading, renting for a few weeks, whatever it takes. Heck if you saw a cheap listing on ebay with reasonable shipping I would be OK with that.

Regards,
Patrick

I'm trying listings like HPE PROLIANT DL380P G8 INTEL XEON CPU KIT E5-2603V4 4CORE 715223-B21 715223-l21

I would get something like Intel Xeon E5-2603 V4 ES QK3H SR2P0 1.7Ghz 6Core 15MB 14nm 85W LGA2011-3 CPU | eBay but that is giving mid-Aug to mid-Sept ETA.

Also, these chips fall like rocks in value with new generations.

V1 = $9 Intel Xeon E5-2603 SR0LB 1.80GHZ LGA2011 Quad-Core Processor CPU *km
V2 = $90 Intel Xeon E5-2603 V2 E5-2603v2 1.8GHz 4-Core Processor SR1AY 10MB LGA2011 80W
V3 = 0 bids at $50 Used Intel Xeon E5-2603V3 SR20A 1.60 GHz - Pulled from working server and a bunch of others around $100

My theory is that people buy Lenovos and the like with these CPUs, then swap them out for higher-end parts to save money since CPUs have a crazy low failure rate.

Yes they were/are a common base CPU that tends to get upgraded. Should be able to get one really cheap, surprised none can be found so far for just a handful of dollars, would have expected nobody desires these CPU's

I appreciate being relegated to "nobody" status. I highly desire one! :0)

Of course, not everyone's use case is showing generational performance gains without Hyper-Threading.

Haha sorry nobody
E5-2609 v4 any use for your testing ? Maybe also worth checking for them, 8 cores at a mighty 1.7ghz with no turbo boost or hyper threading. So just disable 2 cores and it should identical to. 2603 ? TDP is same 85w so maybe under full load a very small difference but I assume that does not matter at all for a CPU with no turbo boost so no chance to do anything with any headroom gained ??

@Evan I do not have the V3 version, but I do have the Bronze 3106 which is the 8 core 8 thread 1.7GHz Skylake part. So it is useful.

i gotta ask. how many systems/parts do you have? :D
i bet walking into your shop/office/data center is like walking into a toy store.

Some may have more varied than others but I know I do get that feeling sometimes that I get to play with some cool stuff, have not deployed a system with less than 512gb ram in a long while or buy storage by the PB, or 150tb all flash vSAN clusters etc.

Much to my wife's displeasure, most of it is sitting in my garage :( Honestly most of my parts (CPUs, RAM, HDDs, RAID cards) go pretty quickly. I am sitting on 20+ 13th Gen barebones systems that I need to get around to listing!

I wanna say I got a pair I can give you. I have to check to see if they are 2603's though they might be 2609's. I know they're V4's.

I live in Sunnyvale so dropping them off would be easy if you still need.
