This is my first post here even though I have been trolling for a while now. I figured since I took the time to compile a massive list of Chelsio adapters I would share this with everyone here.

Chelsio seems to make adapters for just about all the major OEMs and assign "new" part numbers based on the same PCB "FAB" number. I am sure that this has to do with slightly modified device id's to ensure that only certain devices are used in certain machines, and in some instances different heatsink/bracket designs based upon the forced cooling requirements of most servers.

If anyone has any corrections please list them here as I am by no means an expert.

Here are some updates on the T6 parts. I recently bought 5x of the T6225-CR for $28.00 a piece on eBay...

A warning on T6 Card Cooling: For the T6 cards, I have not found a version which is "active cooling" with an onboard fan. That is because all T6 Unified Wire Adapters were designed for server use and Chelsio defined the airflow velocity, operating temp range, and typical power requirements on the respective PDFs. I have changed the format below and now listed the unique information under each adapter.

COMMON Chelsio T6 Adapter Card Physical and Environmental:
  • Operating Temp: 0 to +55 C (+32 to +131 F)
  • Required Airflow Velocity: 200 LFM
  • Listed Low Profile Dimensions: 2.731in x 6.6in (69.4mm x 167.6mm) (This does not include the bracket and the height is from the edge of the PCIe tab to the top of the card. The actual PCB from the top of the PCIe slot is approximately 67mm)
  • Standard Heatsink is a Black 50mm x 84mm Heatsink with 4x Brass Push Pins and Tension Springs
  • The T6225 Low Profile Cards use the SAME PCIe brackets as the T520 and T420 cards.
T6x25 vs T62100 Revision Identification - Changed from a letter number combination to just a two digit number. i.e. A0 -> 01

This is a completely different animal than the LP version. It uses the same 50mm x 84mm heatsink as the others, but it is a full height PCB and a shorter in length PCB with a PCIe "locking tab". Chelsio refers to this card as the "half size" card. You can use an LP card in a full height slot with a bracket change, but you can not put this card in a LP slot. (It's actually as tall as the LP card is long)

I am looking at a Chelsio T520-CR Passive Cooling and the FAB # matches what you show of PCB FAB 100-1160-00 Rev B but the part number is
110-1160-50 H0 . The list you have stops at F0. Any idea what that means for this board. PIC ATTACHEDCHELSIO T520 PIC.jpg

The base part number, 110-1160-50, denotes that this is a Chelsio T520-CR adapter. The next two characters represent the version and revision. For instance this is version "H" revision "0". These numbers, while I am by no means an expert, will usually help differentiate between different specifications requested by OEM buyers or different specifications as Chelsio improves their products or changes manufacturers of the on board components.

For example the Bx and Dx versions have the large heatsink while the Ex and Fx versions have the small heatsink (probably because they are in a higher air flow environment). The Hx might have been made for a vendor that required something particular or it could be a newer version of the generic Chelsio adapter. That I am unsure of.

As revisions of the adapter are produced in the same version family, like H0 to H1, the 1 revision will be newer than the 0 revision.

The SN tells you that this part was made on the 25th week of 2018, which would be between June 17th and June 23rd.

If you contact Chelsio support using their online form and give them the SN and ask them to confirm if it is genuine, they can tell you if this is a genuine product.

Normally, the base part number and PCB FAB number are what you would want to be concerned with.

There is no link on the information I have provided. I have purchased a metric but ton of Chelsio adapters trying to decipher their part codes. I noticed a pattern and then started data mining pictures from sellers on the internet, to include eBay and the private places like orange computers (which is close to me and will let me look at any card they have in stock) and other resellers of server equipment and even the Chelsio web store itself.

I once had a phone conversation with Chelsio support and they verified the format of the part number, but could not give me a total list of all adapters because the OEM part numbers to Chelsio adapter numbers are some how proprietary - something to do with their manufacturer/supply agreements.

You can always email Chelsio support through their support page and give them the part number and serial number and they will tell you the product and if it is genuine or fake. I do that with every adapter I buy off of eBay to include the last 10 T6 units I bought.
