Hi,

Hope you can help, I'm looking for a cheap 4-port SATA3 PCIe card w/SFF-8088 that runs natively under Linux.

Has anyone seen one, I don't need hardware RAID, it should be low power?

I have tried converting my motherboard SATA ports to SFF8087 and then plugging that in to a startech AD2EMSPCI but I was getting errors and I suspect the combined cable length exceeding 1m is the issue.

I also tried a MEGARAID SAS 9280-8E but it runs really hot and I don't need the RAID.

Thanks for looking.

Have you looked at Dell H310s? They have been around $30 here in US. You will have to flash to IT mode LSI Firmware.

Thanks nthu9280, I can't find any with SFF-8088 on Ebay though, it looks like this was only available in internal SFF-8087 variants?

Cheapish ctrls 'may' be the following: (3rd overkill as it does 16 external but I think they make 8 external variant as well my google/ebay-fu escapes me right now).

9207-4i4e
9217-4i4e
9201-16e

SFF8088 ports at least :-D
