Anyone think that this might be an interesting article to compare L5520 to L5530 to L5630?

Trying to gauge interest as it seems like the LGA1366 platform is fairly popular from a price/ performance standpoint.

Ok. That's on my list. Can use the HP DL180 G6 as a test bed.

You'll want to make sure you establish a really good baseline on the DL80 first. Need to be sure the comparison is of the various CPUs - not of the platform. The DL180 has really aggressive and power-hungry fans that can (theoretically) draw up to almost 50W each. And there are 8 of them (in four pairs that speed control together). As you already noted in the DL180 thread small changes in ambient temp can really affect fan speed, as can Bios/BMC firmware. You already saw almost 30W difference just from a bios update and a cooler evening.

Also, the 460W PSUs in the model you bought are old models and are not 80%.
