In case others may not have noticed, there's a new CA in town that's free and is interesting. Let's Encrypt provides a commandline-based SSL cert that you can automate for your websites and applications. It's backed by a lot of big names (Facebook, Mozilla, EFF, Cisco, etc..) and is now open for public beta. There are a lot of folks writing install scripts for common tools that some of us use such as Jira and UniFi. Of course there are instructions for the standard web servers (Apache, ngix, etc).
So potentially we won't need to do as many self-signed certs and can all save some money as well.
