Hello all, I recently purchased a M90Q Gen5, Part #: 12TH000UUS.

I want to install a 10GB network SFP card, but need a PCIe riser card to do so.

I just want to confirm that the correct model for that riser card is model #5C50W00933.

Thanks everyone!

Lenovo only lists 5C50W00909 as the riser card for the gen 5. According to their UK site they don't sell that model with a gpu so I suspect they don't offer 5C50W00933 which is used by models with a dedicated gpu option. It could work but if you want the best chance for compatibility I would suspect it will be better to go for the 5C50W00909 model.

Alright thanks for that! However I don’t think it will work for my use case, it seems to be a PCIEX4 riser, and I believe I would need a X16 for a 10Gb SFP+ network card.

Ah right yeah I think most 10Gb cards need a x8 slot.

Both the 5C50W00933 and the 5C50W00909 riser is supported by the P3 so it should work. I couldn't find a schematic for the m90q gen 5 to confirm how the PCIE slot is wired but the data sheet for that machine does specify that it is electrically PCIE 4.0 x 8 just like the previous models though.

They don't **need** x8 slot and will often work with older version of PCIe or fewer lanes (sometime at cost of not reaching the full bandwidth).

For reaching full bandwidth, a single 10gb connection requires 1 Lane at Gen4, 2 lanes at gen3, or 4 lanes at gen2.

A lot of cards are physically x8 but yes you are 100% correct about the availably lane count and spec, it even applies to gpus too.

Do you know if there is a 3D printable model for an M90Q Gen3 and Gen 4 and the Intel X710DA-2 card?

Hi all, I have a P360 with a model-T CPU (12900T). I was thinking of doing a simple upgrade to the thermals, and considered either purchasing the top chassis from the P3 (two vents) or buying the upgraded 65W heatsink. Any thoughts? Which would be a better upgrade?
From my understanding, I'm guessing the 35W to a 65W heatsink upgrade doesn't make any real difference to a T-installed CPU? I wouldn't mind improving the thermals - also considering the double-perforated P3 case as an option.

Has anyone else experienced crashing when during high GPU load on the M90q Gen 3 / P360 Tiny? It seems that when VRAM load gets high enough the GPU will disconnect and crash the whole system on Linux. I have a Yeston RTX 3050, the 230W power adapter, and the 5C50W00933 riser.

Code:
May 03 03:21:25 desktop kernel: NVRM: dmaAllocMapping_GM107: can't alloc VA space for mapping.
May 03 03:22:23 desktop kernel: NVRM: GPU at PCI:0000:01:00: GPU-3c96597c-cd80-1db9-e747-2bc6f43bd1f2
May 03 03:22:23 desktop kernel: NVRM: Xid (PCI:0000:01:00): 79, pid=7273, name=btop, GPU has fallen off the bus.
May 03 03:22:23 desktop kernel: NVRM: GPU 0000:01:00.0: GPU has fallen off the bus.
May 03 03:22:23 desktop kernel: NVRM: kgspRcAndNotifyAllChannels_IMPL: RC all channels for critical error 79.

Would you happen to remember where you found this information? I looked through the user guide, setup guide, and hardware maintenance manual, for both m90q gen 5, and the generic m90q documents. Closest thing I found was a generic mention of "PCI-Express converter" with an image that looks like the riser, but no mention of the riser part number. I couldn't find it on their online store either.

The 5C50W00909 model looks like it's only x4, and I need to put in a x8 card. Would 5C50W00910 be compatible?

For anyone else looking, I was able to find the parts list, first go to their parts lookup and select your system, and you can download available parts. https://support.lenovo.com/gb/en/parts-lookup. Having an x8 but only a x4 riser seems to make the x8 useless....

I'm not sure if it has improved for the more recent gens, but I remember reading reports of some older Tinys (P320 or P330) crashing when the Yeston 3050 is running intensively. The problem is the 3050 is trying to pull the full 75W from the PCIE slot, but the motherboard itself wasn't adequate for that amount. They resolved it through undervolting and/or power limiting it.

On the PSREF the T1000 is the highest end card officially supported by the P360, and that only uses 50W. So maybe start off with capping it to 65W, and if it still crashes then keep going lower towards 50W.

Hey guys. I'm planning to get a m720q to run as my firewall (pfsense). I have a 10Gtek 57810S-10G-2S-X8 card that I'll be using with a gpon stick to connect to my isp via pppoe. The length of the card is around 165mm which i read here that only cards 150mm and below are suitable.

I found a post broadcom 57810 lenovo m920q by FCUK | Download free STL model | Printables.com that says it'll fit but the pcie riser would have to be cut. I'm not sure what part that has to be cut, but have anyone been able to fit this card in their m720q? If not, what's the next alternative? My budget is limited to the range of the barebones spec m720q. I have my own ram, storage and cpu (Pentium G5400).

Why not get one of the cards that are known to fit, like the Supermicro AOC-STGN-i2S or Mellanox ConnectX 3?

good news
my Chinese friend was able to get all the necessary files.
don't have much time rn to check the files.

The following text is translated from Chinese

Accessories BOM
2.5四盘NAS-BOM表2023-3-24

NAS cooling PCB kit
商品详情

The current test can perfectly use the M3600c cover
M700 M900
The remaining M920 M910 P330 P360 series tests cannot be used

m93 m73 can barely use the top cover of M3600c by changing the buckle and changing some details. Not recommended

The link has all necessary files zipped (bom, stl for printing the HDD cage)
