I just bought a m720q with bios M1UKT72A installed in it a nic i350-t4 and nvme with no ssd, it takes a very long time to go past bios screen around 70 seconds before it start the boot process, i tried disabling secure boot and csm nothing affects it, any tips of what settings i can change ? or do i need to install another bios version ?
I know it isnt supposed tostay at the post screen that long i have m710q and never had this issue
Try to strip it down to the bare minimum, reset the BIOS to defaults and then add components one at a time. My guess would be the RAM module(s), so see if you have a spare module to check. I have a 16GB module that, for whatever reason, adds like 30 seconds to the boot time on a Lenovo T470s, but is working fine otherwise. One of these days I'll test it in a M910x to check.

I tried the ram in another device normal boot time, and then i tried another device ram still long boot time.
without the i350-t4 plugged in it boots in less than 10 seconds.
I managed to reduce the boot time to 30 sec instead of 70 sec by disabling ASPM support in pci express settings sub menu.

i tried to remove the i350-t4 from the riser and leave the riser connected it booted very fast, myi350 didnt have this problem at all in my hp 800 g5
the riser 01AJ940 is the recommended one to use according to this thread but not sure if its a knockoff or oem

edit: just updated the firmware to latest version still the same

Purely a guess, but I'm thinking that it's attempting a network boot and you're having to wait for a timeout. Might need bios or card settings to turn it off.

Other thought is it's waiting for a lan to show up on one or all of the 4 ports.

this is a wise guess, because it used to be the case before, but then i totally removed pxe boot from the boot devices and closed all associated options as far as i can tell.
can i edit the firmware of the card to disable this function? i am sure i will never need it
I cant find any option related to the card on the lenovo bios it only has option to boot from network in general not specific to which nic but surely i disabled them.

Like I said might be worth a try but if the slot is only wired to support x4 then that's all you will ever get. In the bios there should be a "Intelligent cooling engine (ICE)" section with a few options, other than that their might be software solutions but I've never tried any so not sure if they work on these machines.
Well on the motherboard is clearly specified that the slot is 8x so it either works or its defective.

Question to P340 tiny owners:
I am trying to add a M.2 A+E LAN card (I have a RTL based 1Gbit and an Intel I226 based one). Inserted it into the M.2 A+E, all fine.

Interestingly, I am not clear where in the BIOS (current version M2WKT61A) I could switch on WIFI. Really can not locate it. Therefore, no activity visible on the NIC.

Does anyone have an idea on this?

Thank you!

not sure of your exact bios version, but it should be in devices tab if it is actually detected correctly, try flipping the cable, first time i had the cable flipped and it was not connected.

Hello Yall, I have read about 90% of this thread, some good projects and useful info.

Looking for Detailed Info on m920q motherboard diagram.

Specific all the extra headers and ports, maybe the electrical pin outs, not really sure what to search to find this if it already exists.

Found both diagram and schematic, very detailed!

Can you share boardview and schematics? · Issue #3 · badger707/m920q-dual-NVME

I am seeing a fire sale on M70q Gen3 with the G7400T processor (41% off, 33% +8%, with a 2 year warranty, came out to $118 and some change after tax for me)

I grabbed a couple and sadly they don't have any 13th gen support, refuses to boot my 13100t processor (and oddly my 12300T seems broken too, boots, but hangs at windows install screen, I think that is bad CPU and I will RMA the 12300t).

What they DO have is what looks like an unpopulated standard PCIe x4 port coming from the PCH chip. Does anyone have the part number of a riser that can fit such an odd thing?
I will try to get some pictures later.

I am looking at it and it there isn't even solder in the holes, so adding a port may be possible! There are decoupling caps missing though.

Thanks for your consideration.

Edit: motherboard model IQ6X0IL2 or 5B20U55160
I am working my way through the parts reference of all M70q models and have not seen a populated version of the board yet.

ThinkStation P330 Tiny Won’t Boot from NVMe SSD When Nvidia T1000 is Installed

I’m trying to install an Nvidia T1000 GPU in my Lenovo ThinkStation P330 Tiny, but I’m running into a strange issue where the system refuses to boot from my SK Hynix NVMe SSD when the GPU is installed via a PCIe adapter.
Setup Details:
  • PC Model: Lenovo ThinkStation P330 Tiny
  • GPU: Nvidia T1000 (installed via a PCIe adapter in the only available slot)
  • Boot Drive: SK Hynix NVMe SSD
  • OS Tried: Windows 10, Windows 11, Ubuntu (same issue across all)
  • BIOS Version: Latest (confirmed)
  • Power Supply: 200W (should be sufficient)
Problem Description:
  • With the NVMe SSD installed and the GPU plugged in, the system gets stuck on the Windows loading screen and never fully boots.
  • However, if I replace the NVMe SSD with a SATA SSD, the system boots just fine, even with the GPU installed, played games as well.
  • If I remove the GPU, the system boots fine from the NVMe SSD.
Potential Causes (Need Help Confirming)
  • PCIe lane conflict? Since the P330 Tiny has only one PCIe slot, could the GPU be interfering with NVMe SSD detection?
Looking for Suggestions:
  • Has anyone successfully installed a GPU + NVMe SSD on a ThinkStation P330 Tiny?
  • Any BIOS settings I might have missed?

Would appreciate any insights or suggestions! Thanks in advance.

My P330 works perfectly with a T600 and both nvme slots populated. Have you tried the nvme in the other slot? Shouldn't make a difference but worth a try.

Thanks for the suggestion! I did try installing the NVMe SSD in the other slot, but unfortunately, the issue persists. It still gets stuck on the Windows loading screen when the GPU is installed. If I switch to a SATA SSD, everything works fine.

Did you have to change any specific BIOS settings to get your setup working?
