That's a really good point actually, I have a T600 in the P330 at the moment but I did previously have a P1000 but the CPU fan seems exactly the same, at least to the ear. I've actually just ordered the T1000 cooler you linked me previously from aliexpress since that should actually work better than the stock Nvidia heatsink even in the P330. Hopefully the lack of vent holes on the top of the P330 won't be an issue. When I get that cooler I will do some tests and post which cooling solution works the best incase anyone else is looking for the lowest GPU temps and noise.

Did you find the cooler from aliexpress to be better than the stock Nvidia cooler?
Yes. That modded cooler (with fan) from P3 Tiny is much better than stock one. It covers hot VRM. Note that it's bigger than stock NVIDIA cooler. For me it was needed to do slight case mod using pliers to fit it. Not sure about P330. I think older machines have less space inside.. So it could happens that you'll need to remove wifi antenna

That's good to hear. Yeah that will be fine you can remove the whole front bracket on the P330 so that should open up enough room. Thanks for all your help.

New member here. So if I am posting this in the wrong spot forgive me and direct me to the correct location.

I have a Lenovo P330 32 GB 1.5 TB. It is my 3rd or 4th tiny.

Does anyone know if the P330 would fit into one of the Lenovo external DVD/CD bracket?

THNX
It should fit a bracket that is for the Tiny5 range.

I believe The P330 has two bios/firmware chips and you can't do a proper read and write without disordering them from the board and flashing them individually with a chip programmer and some bios splitting. Annoyingly I can't find the link to the guys blog that figured this out. I was really interested in unlocking voltage control since in a desktop board my CPU can be undervolted a fair whack and stay stable so I spent weeks trying to figure out a way to flash a modded bios. If you do ever manage it please PM me as ReBar would mean intel cards would become viable in the m920q/m720q/P330.
I think you mean this guide.

You can also write the uefi variables with Ru efi, so no bios programmer is needed.

Yes that is the one. Do you have any information on Ru efi? Does this mean that ReBar and undervolting can be done and set to be persistent between OS installs?
Never tried it, I don't have the time for.
You can see and write the variables and you can also hexedit your BIOS. But for ReBar you need to inject the driver in BIOS, nothing I would done through hexedit

Thats the main drawback for these little old devices. If only they could handle 3 storage devices(raid5) it would be enough for couple years to go.

While I would like raid, I would deal with just dual drives without the cage so I can uses the 2nd drive as a proxmox app storage but meh.

Hi guys you know if the m910x has the pci slot wired to the CPU with 8x lanes or is wired to the PCH with just only 4x lanes?
I'm asking this because i just got a pcie riser (01AJ940) from aliexpress and there is no way to make it work at 8x bandwidth no matter what using a rx 550 gpu and i also tried the RTX A2000 but that one won't get event detected even after doing the pinmod by connecting PRSNT2# to GND but nothing.

The first post talks about issues with that riser

Are you refering to this table?
Because my riser is the 01AJ940 and not the 01AJ902 as you can see in the pictures attached.

Sorry I misread then my apologies. Have you attempted to run something else to see if it's the riser or the cards?

The rx 550 only work at 4x bandwidth and the rtx a2000 don't get detected unless i use a pice of tape to isolate the pins so that only 4 lanes of the 16 are electrically connected to the CPU and i also tested a rtx 2070 and the 1080ti using a external PSU but those won't get detected either.Other devices like a 10G network card works just fine but this one only use 2x lanes. The CPU in my m910x is the i5 7500 and the bios version is M1AKT51A.

Really weird stuff.

Have you tried changing your windows power plan? There's also an AMD power plan setting you could try changing (Make sure you restart the pc after for changes to take effect). You could just have a faulty riser or motherboard, as I don't believe there is any reason that your configuration shouldn't work at x8. There might be a possibility that your motherboard's pcie slot is configured to only work with the 01AJ902 riser (Lenovo does not list 01AJ940 in the parts list). The 01AJ940 REV 1.1 does not work properly with gpus so its worth checking and getting a REV 1.2 riser if needed.

The riser slots in the Tiny4 and Tiny5 generations are indeed not the same. They are physically identical, so it does fit, but part of the pinout doesn't match up. Luckily the power pins are the same so at least it won't fry anything, and the first 5 PCIe lanes also line up, but after that it's all shifted a little. Best case you're gonna get a x4 link out of it, worst case it might just not work.

This could be the issue. as the 01AJ940 riser is for the tiny 5, not sure what the solution is at that point other than tying the 01AJ902 riser but that still might end up only giving you x4.

Ok will try to get the 01AJ902 and see if it works at 8x and you know if there is any way to control the fan speed on the m910x.

Like I said might be worth a try but if the slot is only wired to support x4 then that's all you will ever get. In the bios there should be a "Intelligent cooling engine (ICE)" section with a few options, other than that their might be software solutions but I've never tried any so not sure if they work on these machines.

I just bought a m720q with bios M1UKT72A installed in it a nic i350-t4 and nvme with no ssd, it takes a very long time to go past bios screen around 70 seconds before it start the boot process, i tried disabling secure boot and csm nothing affects it, any tips of what settings i can change ? or do i need to install another bios version ?
I know it isnt supposed tostay at the post screen that long i have m710q and never had this issue

Try to strip it down to the bare minimum, reset the BIOS to defaults and then add components one at a time. My guess would be the RAM module(s), so see if you have a spare module to check. I have a 16GB module that, for whatever reason, adds like 30 seconds to the boot time on a Lenovo T470s, but is working fine otherwise. One of these days I'll test it in a M910x to check.
