I bought a Lenovo M80t-Gen3 running a intel 12500 with integrated graphics. I'm about to pull my hair out trying to get a Intel xxv710-da2, dual sfp28 slots, to work in the x16 slot. The bios seems to try and set anything with a option rom as the primary video, even it I turn off scanning external graphics in the secret advanced section of the bios. It does have a silk screening on the slot saying its for graphic cards only. Best I can tell, I can't disable the option rom on the intel xvv710 card, and it does appears to be an authentic intel model, not an oem. Basically it hangs when powered on, and reports that it can't find the video device to the Intel vPro ME. The nic does work in the x16 slot that is only wired as a x4 pcie slot. I have just recently figured out the procedure to enable the advance hidden bios settings in the m80, so I haven't tried everything. There is a lot of settings they have in there, way more than I was expecting to be honest. Has anyone had any success getting a nic with a option rom to work in the true x16 slot? I did try a Connectx-3 dual 40g card in the slot, and it worked. But I am about 95% certain that card I was able to remove the option rom. I have also dumped the entire bios with a xgecu t76. There are limits to what can be done, as the chipset it fused with intel boot guard, not the cpu. I'm hoping its one of these countless bios options.

Its running bios: M40KT63A from April 2026. Model #: 11TD

If you are willing to brick your machine, to get the advanced->advance, and device->chipset bios features to show up on this model. I ran the following two commands from linux, using efivars. Normally this uefi/nvram variable is missing, so it always returns 0x00h. But adding it with a 0x01, since the single byte enables the advanced bios.

Code:
Should look like:
GUID: e102c8aa-0f10-4a0e-90a7-a6f816089bb7
Name: "AmiSetupFormSetVar"
Attributes:
       Non-Volatile
       Boot Service Access
       Runtime Service Access
Value:
00000000 01 |. |
